Personally, I really enjoyed the level. I never wanted it to end, from start to finish. It is hard for me to describe what gave excitement, though. You have a lot of potential, but...

Graphics: 1/4
You definitely could have done much better with the design. When you reach the "attic," you can jump out of the house and into a level transition.

And a space background? I think the level would be better with a hills background (or if it is supposed to be dusk, just a black background).
The water at the beginning is also out of place, along with quite a few flame towers, most of the doors, and some coins.
Also, the clouds at the beginning of the level could be replaced with more realistic things (a lot of other things.)
Some good things, graphically, include the garden-like room. I thought it was a nice touch. Secondly, the Thwomps were placed neatly, which was good. Lastly, the actual structure of the house looked sustainable.

Other: .5/2

-.25: The flipping platforms in the first room can be jumped onto from below.
-.25: 2 too many Shine Sprites.
-.25: You cannot actually ESCAPE the house safely. In fact, the Shine Sprites are in a dead end.
+.25: I liked the idea of having to escape from a house in danger.

Overall: 5/10 (2.5 > 3 Stars)

It was an okay level, despite me enjoying it very much. You have a lot of areas you could improve in (a lot of us in this community do). If you change the background, fix-up issues, and neaten up a lot of the items (and remove unnecessary ones), you'll have a much better level in your hands.
