Re: The House 3: A way back in.

I've got a lot of feedback this time.

Fun: 2/4
For the first 8 minutes, it was hard to enjoy, because of the lack of explanations of what to do (and of what was going on). There were also a lot of things that misled me. There were two pipes at the start; the sign on the grassy ledge said to look for one. Okay. What if I decide to go all the way to the right side of the area, toward the level transition? In search of one there, I was suddenly engulfed in flames! The problem was that you didn't make the snowy wall thick enough and I could reach the transition. I suddenly had to continue through the pipe to the right, and into another pipe area... which leads me to this point:
The sign to the right of the sling star, near the end, did not explain things correctly. It read:

A sign in the level wrote:Go to the left warpipe to go get the shine sprite. Go left if you think you missed a silver star star. (If you go trough the left warp pipe there is no going back!)

Let me explain this.. you were correct as in the Shine Sprite is followed by the left pipe. Now, when you said "Go left if you think you missed a silver star star," you meant "right." "I got confused as of where to go, especially with the unexplained sling star as a choice.
Try to put a little more "thought" into your thoughts (excuse me). You also did not explain, through that one sign, what happens if you walk under the low pipe in the house.
The level was also straightforward at times. All of the Silver Stars in the house at the very end were unnecessary. Oh! And at the very beginning, you can wait the trap out by just standing there... (rearrange the sprites)

Now, what was actually FUN about the level was a little more significant, once I understood things. Other than the useless chunk of Silver Stars inside the house, the small challenge of finding/collecting the remaining Stars was enjoyable. It is hard (for me) to describe what makes your levels fun.

Graphics: .5/4
Ouch! Even though I liked playing the level, man... were there many things wrong with the graphics. I have to put this in list form it was so abundant:

    1) Snow and Grass tile sets quickly shifting... no sense.
    2) Flames in the snow? :?
    3) When you take your first pipe, you come into a room with messy coins and INCORRECT GRASSY FLOORING TILES.
    4) The tall area with the floor of flames was just a random mixture of almost every sprite, even though it looked neat, which gave you some of my points.
    5) The pipe leading to the Shine Sprite was out of place.
    6) You did not need all of those arrows inside the house.
    7) There were some unfitting pieces of Cavern tiles.
    8) Your Warp Pipe destinations were messy too.
    9) Low-lying clouds... easily replaceable.
    10) The floor with flames did not cover the whole floor (look to the right).
    11a) Snow-free trees over snow?
    11b) Cacti over snow???
    12) Floating cannons...

I've got nothing...

This level had a lot of issues, but weren't too severe that I didn't want to play. This wasn't your best level, but taking my feedback into consideration, I'd bet others could give you higher ratings. For now, take a look at my review or maybe ask someone else for help if needed. This is just my opinion.
Anyways, have fun making more levels!

You know I just like messy, just something to think about. And another one, I didn't think my levels were actually gonna get approved since I really like making stories with weird twists, besides, (in my imagination) I think that the house is getting angry and is messing the weather up. I would also like to mention that there are going to be more twists like this ones, so if you don't like them, it's fine with me if you don't approve them :| . And please remember I am fifteen and mexican so please understand that's why my mind is so twisted  . For the graphics, I WILL try harder to make them better. And one more thing, Do you know when vertical level transitions are coming out?

Well Triple J, I disagree with you.

Review.

Fun: 5.5/10
Well....let me tell it this way, it goes quanity over quality. Weather some of the challanges had some fun into it, most of them were meish, or completely pointless like the snow maze, maybe some enemies there. The cannon part had its charm into it, although some flying shy-guys wouldn't hurt. And also, the level was messy, and that brought some intresting challanges (the thwomps, for example), but also some not so good ones (the koopas and the penguins). It is an intresting level, but not very well executed.

Graphics: 3.25/5
Tbh, graphics were pretty decent IMO. I loved the confusing atmosphere, the grass here and there with the snow. It was pretty nice. I disliked the floating cannons, and the ice maze felt flat. Maybe you could add more decor. Also, the part filled with fire towers....couldn't have you add laval instead?

Other: 3/5
Nothing over here.

Overall: 11.75/20 (3 stars)

It is an average level to my eyes, the messy atmosphere was Ok, but thanks to the lack of decor in some areas it was inconcistent. Some challanges were ok, others were not. I can see a lot to work here, but also many things you worked on, so well done.

I think tileset switches bring the atmosphere into the levels. As long as they're not mixed in the turf, it works pretty well depending on what you want to achieve. Also contrasting items do just as well sometimes- flames in snow. A lot of well-known levels have contrasts such as these. I suppose to make it even better you should have a purpose of why you put them there.
