Meh.


General mistake for a first timer: Basically all items in "Front". It just makes me cringe every time I see this, and it really kept me from investing or submerging in the experience, though you knew how to rotate items, combine them to make things like a bridge, and make it look like the villager was holding a flower (for no reason, though). Another mistake is not getting the slopes right and using blocky level design. I'm not sure why, but sometimes you had it right, other times... Not.

In general, that's how I feel about this level. There was an awkward blend of good level design and bad first-time design.


Take for instance the Great Square puzzle. Great Squares should be rewards for exploration, and it's great you tried to use one, though it's ruined by the fact I can see it as soon as the level starts up.

Same goes for your caves and houses. It's great you were able to make a cave, but the fact I can see the cave from the level preceding it ruins it. As for the houses, they were done okay, but I could see land from the far left of the first house and entered the second house in midair.


You also showed some knowledge of more advanced concepts like the usage of carousels or re-sizing sprites with greater HP counts, but the carousel is WAY too slow and the giant bugs had way too much HP. (I ended up just using a slide kick to get past them.)

Oh, and funny the Giant asks you to save him when the only way to talk to him is after you get rid of the giant bug THAT'S ALREADY RIGHT UP IN HIS FACE.


Overall, it's not that bad, though, in all honesty.

The graphics were pretty simple throughout the whole thing, no decor really used except in the "castle." The ice was random and the choice of blocks were also pretty...simple. The monsters all had different colourations from their default colouration though, so that's always nice. It's also not bright with too much saturation and such.
