Sling Star Castle
Can you successfully traverse the Sling Star Castle and snag the 5 Silver Stars?

I don't have much experience with level creating but I hope you'll enjoy the level! Like I said, I'm not an expert but I did put in a lot of effort so I hope you like it! ^_^

Sorry, the embedded player is not working just yet, please use the Popup link to open the level in a new window.

VERSION 1.1
- Added a sign and cloud platforms at the beginning. There is also now a wall when you launch yourself from the first Sling Star which leads you to the second ones (I thought it would be better than just running into nothingness and having that lead you to the second Sling Star).

VERSION 1.2
- Added more platform varieties instead of just the average cloud platforms.
- Made the area for the first Silver Star larger.
- There are now different varieties of enemies at the end instead of just the Bullies and Big Bullies.
- Moving arrows have been added in the area with all the Paratroopas.
- Speaking of which, below the row of Paratroopas is a group of moving platforms so if you fall there's still a chance you can keep going.
- Coins have been added in certain areas.
- Flying penguins have been removed.

Strongly suggests you to test your level before releasing it.

The very first sling star in the stage...doesn't sling you on to the cloud platform.

Don't press anything and you'll land on a cloud near the bottom of the pit. There's another Sling Star, though I will suggest the designer could make it a bit clearer.

I agree. I'll try editing the level in a little bit and maybe I'll add a cloud platform and a sign at the start. Thank for you the feedback! I appreciate and welcome any suggestions to make this level better.

Although I didn't finish the entire level (I'm very impatient) I can review the level based on what I did.

1) DID IT WORK?
Wellllll....kinda. The problem is, if you haven't played the level before, there are no arrows to tell you where you are going to end up or where to go next. Therefore, with the part with the koopas that you have to drop to and bounce along, who would know it's there other than you? There's no indication. However the Sling Stars worked well, albeit not very fun to consistently use. Also that part with the Big Bully and the Silver Star near the star, the Bully just leaps off the edge and you have to try and not keep entering the door instead of jumping. 6/10

2) WAS IT FUN?
I'll be really honest. It wasn't. Y'see, there are so many Sling Stars it's kinda like 'oh, I'll just hop over here, and go to the next bit' every time. It's like the Stars just did most of the work for you. Also, there was no indication so it was rather confusing where to go. 4/10

3) DID IT LOOK GOOD?
Hardly any scenery. A few clouds. A ton of Sling Stars. Some logs and triangles. The level looked bare and basic, I'm afraid. But, on the bright side, no cutoff whatsoever, if you ignore the quasi-floating door near the start. 4/10

TOTAL SCORE: 4.7/10 (that's 3 stars)

Hey, you said it was your first level. And it wasn't too bad. Unfortunately, there's not a lot going on in it.
SUGGESTIONS:
♦If you're putting in different rooms/parts to obtain, say, a Silver Star, don't make it absolutely tiny and cramped.
♦Add indication to prevent confusion. Remember: When testing the level, think as if you had never played it in your life, and whether you'd know about something in it or not. You may know where stuff is, but others may not.
♦Keep trying! It's your first level so it's not gonna be an instant masterpiece. Considering this is your first level, you're gonna become a respected and skilled designer.

Thank you very much for the honest review! I have taken all your suggestions into account and will try improving the level as much as I can. I'll admit I need to look at this from a player perspective, so I'll try adding in some more hints and less "quick, jump!" moments. I will also try adding in new aesthetics because, as you said, the level is pretty barebones at the moment.

Thanks again! This feedback helps me improve my work and I really do appreciate it.

It's no problem at all. I'm glad to help out, and I'm sure everyone else is too.

Yeah, it was okay, but when I got the last silver star and it zoomed to the shine sprite, it didn't give me any time to save myself. There are so many open-ended jumping spaces. The extreme jump combo is easy to skip, mostly. It wasn't the most exciting thing I have played, and it bored me a little, but I can tell you worked hard making the slingstars precise.
