An evil villain who has a serious case of PTSD is trying to change how the past went by using Shine Sprites as a power source for his time machine. However, he must first trick Mario into traveling back through time so he can get to them. He ends up in an unknown location somewhere in space, but he knows he must get back to the present, before he ends up without one to go to!
