9 - What Had Happened
Upon arrival to the present, the present doesn't look like a gift anymore. It has fallen to chaos and ruin after the Time Bender changed the past. However, the only upside is the Time Bender. He didn't expect Mario to make it, although he wasn't surprised.

Welcome to this profile! Rockinjake63 here, and I say that I'm happy to see you! I am currently working on the Time Bender series on the portal for SM63, and this should finish by the end of August. If you want, check out the levels on the old portal from when I was younger and therefore more stupid. PM me if you have any suggestions about what series I should make next, because I already have the Time Bender series all lined up. Thanks for visiting!

Re: 9 - What Had Happened

Hey there!

I played through your whole series, and I really love the storyline behind it as well as your storytelling abilities! There's a few things I want to mention, however:

1) Irony is not the same as misfortune. ;) Just because Mario suffers a serious lack of luck, it doesn't mean that it's ironic. Irony would be Mario not knowing how to bake a cake, given that he gets so many from Peach all the damn time.

2) Your levels so far have been rather short. Although this is not necessarily a bad thing, keep in mind that players will usually enjoy levels with more than one section of platforming. That's generally why I typically rated your longer parts higher, because there was more to do in them.

3) Your graphics are pretty good, but they can be better. I mean this when I say it: abuse decor. Check out some of FluorescentLight's levels on the portal, they are examples of levels with gorgeous graphics. I know sometimes you have some areas like the volcano and you think, "Well I can't put anything here because nothing would grow here; it doesn't make sense." However, there are some things you can do. In areas where there isn't much "life", you can use rocks, fences, and actually, those twisted tree thingies look good on any tileset (even bricks!). You can also vary your tile usage. If you look in the Volcano tileset, there are a ton of different tiles for you to use! Try out different patterns and mix and match tiles together. It can look amazing.

These are just general tips so far. As you improve, I (as well as the community) can give you even more advice to perfectly polish your levels.

Nicely done, and until then,

Thanks for the tips, I will try to keep those in mind while I make Part 10. And I do agree that the guy you mentioned DOES make good graphics with decor. And I will use "irony" and "ironic" lees often and in proper context. Thanks for the support! :)
