If it's that terrible, it could also partly be your computers fault. You should always consider your computer's performance when referring to lag. If your computer isn't good, and you can't really play it, it could still be fairly playable on better computers. After playing many levels (500 or 1000 or such), you should have a good sense for that.

Yet there is a noteworthy amount of lag (15 - 20 fps on mine) due to many many penguins. You (Goldy) could disable many of them, as they don't serve any extra purpose when being alive but they just permanently get in your way. There's also a bit of pipe cutoff (put the warp pipe top item #42 when finishing a pipe) and green platforms disappearing behind fences; this looks better if the platforms rides on top of the fence.

Giving 2 stars now, but I guess I can increase it soon once things are fixed.

On my old computer the main SM63 game ran constantly at 15 fps only, and you wouldn't tell that the main game lags. There is a difference indeed. And you could replace "fast computers" with "commercial computers". I couldn't qualify my computer as "fast" by any means.

The problem is that we're constantly about lag and not about overuse of enemies or 30 coin blocks within the same transition or lack of transitions etc., we're naming the effect and not the cause, while the cause could also be a technical one with the computer itself.

Disabling the majority of the penguins will fix it already, I've tried that by myself.
