You could have still gone one step further, as there was still a lot of monotonousness left e.g. in the cave secret rooms (the same type of cave ground all over the place) and in the 1-4 castle (blue bricks and wall background all the time made it feel really bland). Décor is where it needs to be, some places would like to have a bit of rocks and fences as well. The red coin quest fit it really well, though since they're not uniformly spread, telling how many you need after each world would be nice, and at the two fast platforms in 1-3, I was quite frantic to die after having progressed thus far. A safety coverage of that pit (with a pipe leading back to the start of 1-3) would have solved this. The ending was quite hilarious so props for that.

I knew I had to put a notice in each world saying had to get as many coins , but thought it would not need to , because could see the level at almost any zoom and some secret pipes was only remember the original.

In the case of platform already the second level that I commit this error, ( hehehe ) .
I'll try t remember to not make that mistake again .
