Note 1: The first level has a collection of 4D rooms as you probably know by now. The italics in the instruction signs are references to existing films of the same genre, after all it's about the old and the new creations. These references are as follows:
- Horror, "Do you want to play a game?" ~Saw
- Romance, "After all, diaries are full of crap." ~Bridget Jones's Diary
- Comedy, "Bazinga!" ~The Big Bang Theory (not a film but idgaf)
- Childhood, "To infinity, and beyond!" ~Toy Story

Wow, thank you. I really did not believe it was considered that high quality tbh, I knew I put in a lot more effort than my other recent stuff but I didn't think it would do as well as it did. So the high score shocked me a lot. :o

Hmm...that's interesting. I was thinking MoD and I would do really well, but we were behind you. Very interesting. Well to be fair, I felt the same with Frost Glade. Boy that one was a shocker .

I don't blame you for thinking that, after all to me I actually felt I'd missed an awful lot of stuff. I don't know what felt empty to me, I think it was the story itself that felt like it was missing something to me. But I am a painfully serious perfectionist right now and almost scrapped the whole thing multiple times before the deadline. Pretty relieved I didn't now.

I agree with MoD. The story went way too much on the simple side and I was craving for some more story development but in the end it's just there.

But, anyways, giving a 5/5. You showed us that it is possible to make old things new again if you use it properly.

My aim really was to make this more like M&L's Great Escape than TP, if I wanted to make it like TP, I would have developed the story an awful lot more. But I didn't want to do it purely story driven, I wanted to find a balance between adding a gripping story but not letting it cloud over the gameplay. I still wanted to keep it a Mario game in the Mario universe.

This for me I think is what made me feel like I wasn't doing enough to make the level 'spectacular'. But ironically that was the whole point, I didn't want to make the story too big and grand by itself. I wanted the levels to drive it along. So in the end I think I achieved what I was going for and that's okay.

See, I don't know. From what it sounds, it's like you focused more on the aesthetics or the graphical looks of the level more than story, and you did well still. So now I'm thinking does it really matter to have a story? I feel like I have been making dull things without a story...unless my graphical design tells some kind of story just from how it looks. I don't know.
