Review: Simple Deathtraps!?

So, this level starts with a dirty trick: if you read the sign, you have to end up losing HP because you get caught in fire that doesn't stop.
It IS called Simple Deathtraps, so I can't complain about that. It's still a dirty trick though. :?

So, the Silver Stars you placed underwater makes sure Mario takes more time. Fun fact: Silver Stars refill some of Mario's air (three eighths).
Meaning, this bit may be easier than you first thought.

Then you swim in a horizontal tunnel, avoiding some Bullet Bills. You get another Silver Star.
There are some air pockets, which serve as a break in the normally featureless (read: dull) area.

Then you reach three bullet bill towers. The platform the Bullet Bill towers are on can be used as a guide: if Mario is at that level, the Bullet Bills cannot hit him.
Thus, this bit is easy if you know what you're doing. You can set the Bills to chase if you don't like this, or reduce the water's depth.

Then you swim in a horizontal tunnel and avoid some fish. This is even more dull than the last bit.
Then you have to injure yourself to get another Silver Star: it's a common deathtrap, but a good and simple one.

There's another area with some air above the water and all sorts of submerged hazards.
Now, this area was absurdly easy for one reason: You gave Mario the Turbo Fludd.
I don't use that Fludd usually because it makes things way too easy most of the time. It let you run on water and bypass all the hazards.
What you could do is remove the water, or give Mario a reason (read: silver star) to go INTO the water where the hazards are.

Then there's an option to go up by jumping on Bullet Bills - easy enough.
When you get there, there's a sign saying you should make sure you have all five Silver Stars. I had three.
However, there were MORE Silver Stars after the sign... You should change the sign because it will prompt players to retrace their steps when they don't need to.

You have a few more unfair traps, and then several stars encased in invisibility-only metal cage...
Mario cannot cross that if he doesn't have the Invisibility Cap, and surrounding the only one in the stage with it is just mean.

Actually, no, there's another invisibility cap. It's just hidden where you can barely see it, unlike every single other important object in the level...
Of course, if the Silver Star weren't there, you wouldn't need it anyway: the Switch Blocks can be replaced by jumping off chasing Bullet Bills.

One out of five. This level is excruciatingly dull and full of annoying crud. It's not fun.
It needs more decoration, more variety, and a better knowledge of level design.

You just need to playtest your level and think about where players would go. Putting things unexpectedly is fine with 1-Ups, but not Invisibility Stars...

Thanks, HickRanger, for giving your opinion about my level. I'll be fixing some of these problems. The intention of this level is to make this level "a bit" difficult. And... The Silver Star on the fire gap, you don't really need to injure yourself to get out of there with it. To prevent this I've placed a "Common Fludd", so you could go back, get the star and then use the Fludd. But I'll be fixing some of the problems.

Yeah, some stuff of this is trolling, but other things work quite nicely. It shows that you already have a fundamental comprehension of gameplay mechanics. Now you just gotta work harder on graphics and effort; apparently you're also one of those who can learn a lot from playing famous levels, like the ones on top of the Score list.

Thanks, Supershroom, actually I was/am fixing some problems in this level, and about the game, I actually collected all the Star Coins and Shine Sprites in the SM63 game(And died a lot, so I'm not an expert), It was a great experience, the graphics is almost my only trouble in this level designer, because I can't seem to find some tiles that fit in some places I know it's missing(Specially some corners). But i'll see about that too.
