Hey, nice job! And welcome to the forums. Why don't you introduce yourself? Anyway, here's my review of your level.



Gameplay: (10 points)
This was a quick, yet fun, traditional collect-the-silver-stars style of level. The platforming wasn't too exciting, but I liked it, and it's especially good for your first level. I didn't notice any lag at all, which is a definite plus. The pipe sections and loop at the end added a bit a nonlinearity to what otherwise would be a pretty straightforward level, which was cool, although those sections were a little bit disappointingly brief. The use of enemies wasn't sparse by any means, but their placement didn't pose much of a challenge, either. In any case, the experience was overall pretty smooth and fun, though it could use some improvements--most notably, the level as a whole was really short, and you could make it take at least a few minutes longer to play.

Graphics: (5 points)
The terrain in this level was definitely varied and interesting. Your decor was also pretty attractive, though nothing in particular stood out as especially good-looking (except maybe that tree near the cannon with the butterflies). Overall, your level was organized pretty neatly, though I'd advise using the gridlock feature of the level designer in the future. When you're placing/moving items, hold down ctrl to align them to a grid so that you can place things evenly more easily (this could be used, for instance, in the section at the end with the platforms in the air and the flying penguins). Also, another minor complaint is with how you managed the underground sections: Once I went into the pipe, I was able to zoom out and could see the sky around the brick. I know that's not intended functionality, but that's usually considered a poor design strategy; instead, it's better to make the level wider and use a Level Transition item to add another section to the level, and have the pipe link there.

Other: (5 points, starting from 3/5)
The music choice and background choice worked fine in this level, though it might have been more interesting if you had looked for an alternate music choice on the internet, or used level transitions for the underground sections and had a different background there. (+0) It's pretty replayable, though there isn't much incentive to do so other than to try to finish in a shorter time. (+0) There wasn't anything super memorable about your level, but I can say that it was definitely an overall fun experience. (+0) I'm also really impressed by the quality of this for it being your first level ever. (+0.25)

Overall: 11.25/20 --> 3 stars
You did a nice job on this level. The main aspect in which it could be improved was length, but otherwise you seem like you're already a pretty decent designer, both graphically and in terms of gameplay/physical layout. I'd like to see more from you in the future.
