DEEP SEA OCEANSIDE
We are taking it back all the way to 1996, with a remake of Dire dire Docks from the original Super Mario 64!! I took out the red coin shine, and added a few others to compensate for that, since Red Coins deactivate all shines no matter what. Additionally, it is 2009 friendly, so if you have the 2009 version installed, you dont need to get the 2012 version, since it works exactly the same

Re: Deep Sea Oceanside (DDD Remake)

Wow is it good to be back!

Anyways, for the grading scheme:

Spawn:Very bland, little use of items, ie, more fish, plants, and little, if any, block variation. Open water with coins at bottom, ironically, is one way, for there is very few coins after the shine sprite.
Submarine Dock Area: No enemies, few coins. Block variation is low, and multiple shine sprite collection is very easy from this point. Not very challenging. The "double dash-spam P trick" was a first; unfortunately, not needed.
Overall:Obtaining every shine sprite was repetitive and mundane; all of them involved a long swim to the Dock, obtaining the metal/invisible star, then obtaining the caged stars. Difficulty: 2/10 ; Although high/low difficulty isn't necessarily a bad thing, the level had little aesthetic. I can recommend compacting the level overall and adding more items and even puzzles, while decreasing the amount of shine sprites for interest. Also, increase block variation; ADD BACKGROUND TILES.
I UNDERSTAND THIS WAS A REMAKE; however, I've seen better remakes of DDD, and understand that in 1996, graphics weren't as keen as 2012; hence, remakes must adapt to standards. This is hardly a replica.

Unfortunately, this level would get a 5/20, but out of sympathy for a new level builder, 2 Stars. Best of luck.
