I'm stunned I got ANY in fun, much less 1.5 in them and another collab as the honorable mention.

You won't be disappointed. Also SMIC, at least you've trimphed over Buff this time. c:

The bar for the Graphics Top 10 is really, really high, simply because you can't do many things wrong but many things right. Stupidly, the placings are also influenced by whether a level had four judgings or only three. And, as I already said, there's a level which will stay first forever.

THE GRAPHICS CRITERION

In 10th place, with an overall score of 5/5/4.5 --> 4.83,
The Blind Experiment by ~MP3 Amplifier~ (21st LDC!)

Awesomely structured castles, very mysterious and trippy outside areas, almost perfectly fitting to the story. Highlight: Lava ground tiles being covered by flame towers, making the lava feel even hotter.

Next, we're having a triple tie.

In 7th place, with an overall score of 5/5/5/4.5 --> 4.88,
Space Colony by Krazy321 (5th LDC)!

That's the mother of all requests graphic-wise. Not leaving out any single detail, simply being incredibly accurate with everything it does. Maybe it's just a very slight overload that kept this level from achieving the grand slam. Highlight: The wheel of green platforms being filled by a ton of decorations.

Also in 7th place, with an overall score of 5/5/5/4.5 --> 4.88,
Exterrestra by nin10mode (16th LDC)!

You may ask yourself why this isn't higher, as it's still being praised as the perfection of Nin's style. Highlight: The start of the second transition, being filled with plants and rocks in an incredibly natural way.

Another 7th place, with an overall score of 5/5/4.75/4.75 (supposedly?) --> 4.88,
Aquatic Breach by Triple J (27th LDC)!

TJ simply excells with the graphics of this level by not having so much tile variation, but being very conscious with what goes where and how the level has to be shaped, along with a perfect balance between being too sparse and being too overriden. Highlight: The third-to-last transition of the Temple with its battery-style setting.

Next, there's another tie!

In 5th place, with an overall score of 5/5/4.75 --> 4.92,
The Great War by Yurimaster (26th LDC)!

What makes this level so fantastically looking is the incredible shapement of the grass tiles being filled with trees, fences and whatnot. Surely, this is the breakthrough for Yuri on finding his style which we admire him so much for. Highlight: As mentioned, the grass sections in a fiery landscape as a whole.

Also in 5th place, with an overall score of 5/5/4.75 (supposedly?) --> 4.92,
Futuristic Dream by Supershroom (28th LDC)!

Yeaaaah ... self-praise stinks, so maybe a mod could insert something fitting in here? Highlight: Ascending the city in Act 2, reaching the cave wall and flying across the roofs.

The ties just won't stop. There are three silvers.

In 2nd place, with an overall score of 5/5/5/4.75 (supposedly?) --> 4.94,
Paradox Bridge by Volkove (9th LDC)!

As already said in the Fun list, this level is so damn unique by connecting various worlds, in fact, transforming the same world within several seasons. Highlight: The icy section and the final area, classic Volkovian style.

Also in 2nd place, with an overall score of 5/5/5/4.75 --> 4.94,
Shyguy's Island by Buffooner (20th LDC)!

Totally recapping the style of Yoshi's Island in perfection, being very detailed even with placing the dots within the jungle ground. Being a cave at a section, being airy at another, this is just genious. Highlight: Recreating the star circle checkpoint with a circle platform, and the ending area.

Another 2nd place, with an overall score of "---------------",
Asphodel Temple by Star king (22nd LDC)!

God damn, this level is soooo sexy. Connecting ruins, fiery buildings and volcano shapes within a "Tartarus" atmosphere, and being so fantastically colourful and accurate with its patterns. Highlight: Everything, I'd say? This is fantastic from the start to the end.

Total recap:

10. The Blind Experiment - 4.83
7. Space Colony - 4.88
7. Extraterrestria (not even nin himself knows how its spelt, lol) - 4.88
7. Aquatic Breach - 4.88
5. The Great War - 4.92
5. Futuristic Dream - 4.92
2. Paradox Bridge - 4.94
2. Shyguy's Island - 4.94
2. Asphodel Temple - 4.94

So, which level is supposed to be the best looking one in LDC history so far?

In 1st place, with a perfect score of 5/5/5/5 --> 5.00

Survivor by Star king / AwesomeJRFD (13th LDC)!

Again: Breathtaking, stunning, whatever there's a word for it. There's really literally nothing to deduct here, because it's simply so fantastic by bringing the storm into a classic, but gorgeously decorated beach setting. Highlight: The stormy battle and the bonus 1-up room.

The Other list will come tomorrow on May 7th (sorry, today is very busy), and this will be the conclusion! See ya!

10th place in such a competitive category makes me feel good. Shocked that Blind Experiment did the best out of all my levels, though

Further proof that LDC scores (should) only reflect how well they did in their respective threads. Oh, and that judging criteria has changed plenty in the past five years.

Time for the finale. It's also to be enjoyed with a few caution because of certain judges giving higher scores in Other and some others being lower and such. Also 777th post.

THE OTHER CRITERION

In 10th place, with an overall score of 5/5/4.4/2.5 --> 4.23,
Destinations by MessengerOfDreams / Venexis (16th LDC!)

Two incredible designers giving all their Input though being inherently different in their styles, MoD being the story guy and Ven being the Bloss guy. Both of which are good ways to score high in Other. Of course, this was entered in a contest about music, and they managed to connect 4 different levels with the same theme in a stunning way.

In 9th place, with an overall score of 5/4/4/4 --> 4.25,
Secret Beneath the Sands by Volkove (13th LDC)!

Neither having story or an incredibly remarkable music, but being totally efficient with what it does and earning high points from both technality and a short loading time.

In 8th place, with an overall score of 5/4.5/3.5 --> 4.33,
Sympathy for the Devil by MessengerOfDreams (25th LDC)!

Another thing you won't be surprised of. Where Destinations ended, it's sequel totally follows up, but also reversing the usual ways of storytelling within the Mario universe by putting Bowser into the main focus. Of course, the music also needs some mention for supporting the story as much as it could.

Quadruple tie ahead. The odds don't want it any other way.

In 4th place, with an overall score of 5/4.5/4/4 (supposedly?) --> 4.38,
SeasonEase Galaxy by nin10mode! (4.38)

Another platforming level making it into the Other Top 10 for being a prototype on switching within the same areas but different circumstances (aka seasons), bringing new gameplay aspects after every season change.

In 4th place, with an overall score of 5/4.75/4/3.75 --> 4.38,
This Is War by NanTheDark (16th LDC)!

Of course, 16th LDC levels do great here because of the music being higher evaluated than usual, but this is still an exemplar of one of the best music choices in SM63 history, because, following MoD's words, "because of the perfect sync to the music".

Another 4th place, with an overall score of 5/4.5/4/4 --> 4.38,
Impossible Treasures by Doram (13th LDC)!

For things of this type there exists an expression called "small but fine". Although it's in a very small space, it makes perfect use of it and excells by surrounding multiple missions with one and the same sweet poem, a level that was truly made with love.

And even another 4th place, with an overall score of 5/4.5/4/4 --> 4.38,
An Act of Antichesm by ~MP3 Amplifier~! (19th LDC)!

Just how shall I describe the level? Totally bizarre, totally ironic or simply totally amazing? There never was such a level before making such an unusual, both macabre and fascinating use of a Death theme, in fact it's rather a horror-themed level, and its boss is one of the most spacious and intelligent ever.

In 3rd place, with an overall score of 5/4.4/4.25/4 --> 4.41,
Dark by MessengerOfDreams (18th LDC)!

Lol, this was 3rd in the Fun tier and it's also third here. Pretty much everything was already said in Fun, but again, this story is still unreached until nowadays. MoD excelled with pretty much all of his strengths.

In 2nd place, with an overall score of 5/5/4.5/4/3.75 --> 4.45,
Superflous Landscape by *Emelia K. Fletcher (29th LDC)!

MK, what the ♥♥♥♥ are you doing up here? Even though the level is highly unfinished, it still shows the rudiment of an incredible prototype idea, by making neither a classic story or a platformer, but a kind of "tourist guide" combined with an actual story. Please, please finish this.

Total recap:

10. Destinations - 4.23
9. Secret Beneath the Sands - 4.25
8. Sympathy for the Devil - 4.33
4. SeasonEase Galaxy - 4.38
4. This Is War - 4.38
4. Impossible Treasures - 4.38
4. An Act of Antichesm - 4.38
3. Dark - 4.41
2. Superflous Landscape - 4.45

So, which level has excelled the most in Other?

In 1st place, with an incredible score of 5/5/5/4.5 --> 4.94

moar dramaspace cuz that's funneh

Space Colony by Krazy321 (5th LDC)!

Krazy blew everyone away and still blows up everyone away with such a detailed, accurate, multi-themed but still interconnected level. This is still the measure of all things. The only complaint would be an insane loading time, which at that time was only judged in the Fun criterion and not in Other, but even if you dock off a -1 in Other, you still find enough innovativeness and wasumness to make up for it.

Okay guys, it's done! It was a lot of fun making these lists and it will also stay fun updating them in the future.

4th place \o/
I do remember Antichesm seemed to score the best in the Other category which I think is why it won.

But still, congrats Krazy
