That's right! This time, the contest will feature a community picked theme.

Each member may nominate one theme. Your propositions have to follow the same
guidelines applied to contest entrants; this means no mature, controversial subjects.

I nominate VERTICAL because it gives us an interesting limit when designing in terms of space, yet allows us to incorporate a large range of ideas in that space. We're not limited by tilesets either, so almost anything goes.

Edit: I also support FLUDDS and power caps. That's not too bad of an idea, as it would provide us a wide range of graphical input with the theme only hindering design. I like vertical better though. Colors isn't too bad either.

Where instead of basing things in the Mario universe you create your own unique setting with the SM63 designer.

Yes. This theme was featured in the 28th Level Designer Contest.
However, that is no impediment to featuring the same theme again.
