A Day in . . . Johto and Kanto, Pokemon HeartGold: show
I began today’s journey on Route 40, a serene beach with salty air leading to an ocean. My main Pokemon, 0zone, a Magnezone, was by my side. I looked east, a path that lead to Olivine City. I hiked down this road, 0zone (who I call 0) hovering right behind me. We reached the city shortly, and as I was watching the oceans waves gently rise up and down, my Pokegear rang. I took it out of my pocket and answered the call. It was Chuck, the Johto Water Gym Leader. He was waiting at the Saffron Dojo. I flipped it shut, and thought as to how I was going to get to Kanto. Then I realized I was at a port, I could sail there. I walked into the port, and began to hike toward the dock, but a sailor stopped me.
“Sorry, kid. The S.S. Aqua only sails Mondays and Fridays.” The sailor said, looking at the pass I held out.
I sighed and put the pass back in my pocket, and trudged out the door again. I didn’t want to withdraw a Pokemon with Fly, so I sat on a bench and tried to think of another idea. 0 hovered in front of me and lifted a nail off the ground with its magnet. That gave me an idea. I could take the Magnet Train! I flipped open my Pokegear and checked how far it is to Goldenrod. Not very far at all. I jumped up, which startled 0zone, and walked straight out of town, 0 struggling to keep up.
I ran around the running people at Route 39, and up a gradual slope. A Miltank look up at me with a mouthful of grass and gave a friendly moo, and continued munching grass. I reached Route 38 in a short amount of time, if not out of breath. I ran, a little slower, to an area with two ledges and a sign. I jumped of a ledge and sprinted east, but not before a wild Magnemite challenged me. I told 0 to use Flash Cannon, and smiled as I remembered this was the exact Route I caught 0zone on. The Magnemite was flung backward, and landed with a loud ‘thud’ in the grass. After the battle, I jogged through the fences that lead to Ecruteak City.
I walked through the silent streets of Ecruteak City and entered the Poke-Mart. I walked slowly up to the first lady and purchased five Full Restores. I took 15000 Poke-Dollars out and gave it to her with a thank you, and was left with 61048. I walked out and left town through the south exit.
The instant I stepped into the tall grass on Route 37, I was challenged by a wild Growlithe. I commanded 0zone to use Charge beam, and the Growlithe fainted instantly after. I resumed walking south and curved around a solitary tree, and jogged into Route 36, a tree lined path. I walked down one hall of Oaks, and ended up back where I started. I went back through the path, and took a left turn instead. It lead to another fork. I knew the correct turn this time though, and curved right. I sprinted straight, and took another right turn after the stairs. 0 was still hovering behind me, to my relief. He did seem tired though.
National Park was as beautiful as ever, wild Pokemon and trainers playing in the grass, which gently waved in the gentle wind. Even 0zone seemed to be relaxed, and was watching the wild Pokemon with his laser red eye. As we were watching the beauty of nature, the sun was beginning to set. I needed to hurry, even though I knew it would be dark when we go to Kanto. 0zone and I hurried down the path around the Pokeball shaped park. I had a strong desire to go to the Pokeathlon Dome, but I needed to challenge Chuck as soon as possible. I walked out the southern door, leading to Route 35.
I ran through that Route with ease and speed, being challenged to battle by nothing. Finally, I reached Goldenrod City, decided to stop at the Radio Tower, and tried the Pokemon Lottery Corner. I won, and got a lowly Ultra Ball. I took the ball, and turned on the Pokegear’s radio function to Buena’s Password, and the password was Growl. I told this to Buena on the second floor, and earned one point. 0 was getting restless, as he always does in the Radio Tower, so I got out of there quickly.
I walked next door to the Magnet Train station, and got on the Magnet Train, 0zone safely in his Pokeball. The seats were comfortable, and the insides and outsides were sleek. The journey wasn’t very long, but the scenery was beautiful that shot past out the window. I arrived at Saffron quickly, and sped out of the station. I ran to the north-eastern corner of Saffron, and prepared to challenge Chuck.
Chuck sent out Medicham, and I sent out 0. I should have switched Pokemon before the battle; Medicham used a powerful Hi Jump Kick. 0zone was KO’d. I put Gallade out into battle, and did a powerful blow on Medicham with Psych Cut. I used another, after Medicham used Psycho Cut, and it was KO’d. Chuck sent out Hitmonchan, and I used another Psycho Cut. It went down instantly. I put Magmortar out as he put Breloom out. I told her to use Flamethrower, and Breloom fell too. I put Gallade back in when he put Poliwrath in, despite about a third of his HP was gone. I commanded him to use Leaf Blade, and Poliwrath fainted too. Gallade leveled up to level 70, and stayed in battle to challenge Primape. He used another Psycho Cut, and Primape was no more. Chuck put his final Pokemon into battle, and I put in Lucario for the fun of it, despite Lucario being part Steel. Chuck decided to shout ‘We haven’t lost yet!’ when, it was apparent he was doomed. Hitmonlee used Fake Out, dealing minimal damage. Lucario attempted to use Me First, but Hitmonlee used Bulk Up, which does no damage, rendering Lucario’s move ineffective. I told him to use it again, and it hit true, depleting his HP by two thirds. Hitmonlee’s attack missed too, so the battle was clearly mine. I finished with Aura Sphere, and won the battle. I took my winnings, and I left the Dojo with a wide smile.
