Ladies and gentlemen. Here are the first story of my series called "The Epic of the Mushroom Kingdom". It may be a quite long story, so I hope you have time to read it...
Small summary : Once again, Bowser decide to invade the Mushroom Knigdom. His new plan : Take the Peach's Castle and put it somewhere unreachable. Mario escaped the attack, but the plan of Bowser works : He doesn't know where is the Castle. How will he find it ? Why do Luigi fear so much to succeed ? Only one way to know... Read.
The story :
Chapter 1 - Huge surprise: show
---------It was a hot day for the Mushroom Kingdom. Mario have just woken up. He opened his eyes, gently. He was thinking. He knew that they was something today, something important, but he can't remember what. He opened a little bit more his eyes, but a strong light made him close them again. He was thinking again. Something very important... He knew that he had to move now, because he was late. He seated on his bed, starring at the ceiling. What was so important ? He knew that if he walked to the kitchen, he would know. So he stood up and startes to walk into the kitchen.
---------He was at 2 meters from the kitchen when he heard whistles. Luigi was gardening at the back of the house, wearing a green pinny. Seing that Mario finally woke up, he said :
---------"Finally, Mario, finally ! Okay, you know why we must hurry..."
---------Mario make "no" with his head. Luigi smiled gently and, he entered the house. He removed his pinny, and pointed the kitchen table with his finger, where there were a letter. So Mario was right. The answer was in the kitchen. But Luigi said :
---------"Peach's Birthday."
---------Mario slaped his forehead. Then he said :
---------"Of course ! Let's-a go !"
---------In less than ten minutes later, Mario was ready. He opened the door. This day of the beginning of July was so hot... They started to walk.
---------They was walking between a forest and a small river when some screams came from behind them. Mario mada a U-turn and he see something very small coming. A Toad. Not a toad, but a Toad, one of the people who live in the Kingdom. It was a small and thin mushroom, with two legs and two harms on the body. He was shouting :
---------"Hey, Mario ! Luigi ! Wait, wait please !"
---------Mario and Luigi stopped. The Toad stooped just in front of Mario and this one was looking at the Toad while he was gettting his breath back. Then he said :
---------"Thanks God I found you. I need help, please !"
---------- You need help, Eddie ? said Mario. Why ? Let's-a go !
---------- It's my... Eddie stopped, and got again his breath back, then he continued : It's my present. For Peach. Too big. Can't move it."
---------Mario and Luigi stares at each other.
---------"Okay, said Luigi. Here we come."
---------They was running, when Eddie (far behind) shouted : "Stop !". So Mario and luigi stopped, in front of a very strange house. It was made of wood, painted in white and a circular red roof. It looked like a mushroom. After that Eddie finally reached Mario and Luigi, they entered the mushroom house by the very small front door.
---------Effectively, the present were big. Too big. Because when Mario and Luigi entered the house, they only saw that. A huge cake were resting on the kitchen table. the cake had three flors of thirty centimetres high each, and the top of the cake was touching the ceiling. The cake was very colourful : red, green, blue, yellow... and there was some candles at the on the first and the second floor. Luigi was starring at the last floor of the cake, when he said :
---------"Oh my...
---------- ...God, finished Eddie. That's right, that the name I gave to the cake. The God."
Eddie was smiling gently, very proud of him.
"But mamma mia, asked Mario, but how did you do that ?
---------- Come on, Mario, answered Eddie. You know that I am the castle's chef ?
---------- Yes, of course, responded Mario. But, that's huge ! The cake you made for my birthday was ten centimetres high and less big than a Goomba's foot !"
---------- Yes, said Eddie. That's right. But you were alone with Luigi and Yoshi, so I made a small cake. Here, we are more than one hundred around the table, tonight, so I made a huge cake.
---------- That, is more than huge, said Luigi.
----------Come on, said Eddie. Help me put this in the wrapping paper. Then we'll bring this to the castle. And then... Oh my God, shouted he, when he saw the hour. We are late ! Come on !"
---------Eddie, and Mario took the cake, while Luigi was opening the wrapping paper. He packed the cake and Mario and luigi took the two ends of the present, make their way through the door, and they started running, Eddie behind, the cake in the hands, to the city.
---------Mario, Luigi and Eddie finally arrived at the Mushroom City. The city was very excited, all the Toads were buying presents and cakes. Many enormous pink banneers with a golden crown in the middle were been hanging everywhere in the city : on the windows, on the trees, on the bridge...
---------Mario and Luigi, aways holding the cake, seated on a wooden bench, to rest.But something suddenly jump on them. A green dinosaur started to lick their cheeks. Plus, he was shouting :
---------"Yoshiiiiii !
---------- Calm down, Yoshi. He are both happy to see you too."
---------Yoshi stopped, proud of him. Suddenly, he noticed the huge present, and he started to stare at it. Mario stood up, take the present and said to Eddie :
---------"Come on. Princess Peach is waiting for us."
---------The whole group continued the walk to the Castle. Yoshi and Luigi were in front, and was looking at the decorations. Some flowers has been put in the trees. Everyone was very well dressed, and very excited. Every minute, a person at the left or at the right of Mario was shouting : "Hey, Mario !". Some was singing, some was laughing. This day seemed to be a very happy day. Then, suddenly, Eddie started to run in the direction of a strange rock, that rested against a tree, yellow with some red spots, shouting :
---------"Dad ! Dad, we are there !"
---------The rock started to move, and he stood up. It was in fact an old Toad, smaller than Mario, with a long beard.
---------"Hey, Eddie !" he said.
---------Eddie and the old Toad came to Mario, Luigi and Yoshi, and shook the hand of Luigi. Then he approched of Mario, and said :
---------"Hello. You are Mario, isn't it ?
----------Yes, I am. You must be mister Eaglehead."
---------Mr Eaglehead and Mario shook their hand, Mario always holding the present, but the Eddie's father wasn't really there. He was lookng at Mario very, very curiously...
---------Then they continued. They finally arrived at the Castle, crossed the bridge on the ditches, and knock at the door.
---------The night finally arrived. Mario, seating on a chair, waiting for the supper to begin, was looking down. Mario, Luigi, Yoshi, Eddie, Mr Eaglehead, Peach and some other important people were seated higher than the others. They was seated in the great living room, all around a very long table. A rainbow mountain were in the back of room, and if we looked closer, we see that the mountain is made of presents. The huge cake of Eddie were one of the biggest. The living room wasn't full, and some people continued to arrive. Mario were very surprised that many people had came from so far of the Mushroom City. A couple of Maskass had came from the great mountains at the south of the Mushroom Kingdom, or some Bullies had came from the Gritzy Desert more in the north, and some Toad with some very starnge color seemed to come from the Zed Jungle, so far at the Esat of the Mushroom City that the Mushroom Kingdom and the Bowser's Territory had very often battled to obtain this part of the land. Eddie's father came also from far, he was the owner of the Great Library, which is the great monument at Steving, the second biggest city of the Mushroom Kingdom.
---------Mario really started to bored when Princess Peach arrived, wearing an orange dressed. Everybody started to applause, and Mario heard that the guards were closing the doors. But he heard, ten seconds later, the doors that opened again... There were some shouts, and then, the door that get closed again, and then some protests outside. It seemed that the person didn't succeed to enter.
---------Then, with an amazing touch of kindness in the voice, which was light, and soft :
---------"Let the ball begin !"
---------Some noises in the livingroom indicated to Mario that the table was moving, then some footstep showed to Mario that some people started to dance. Some people next to him, on the balcony, also began to dance.
---------Someone approched. Mario made a U-turn, and he saw Peach, looking at him. She said, gently, softly, like a child :
---------"Is it possible to dance with you, Mario ?"
---------Mario stood up. He was a bit smaller than Peach, and he had to rise his end high to catch Peach's. Then, they started walking to the middle of the livingroom, where the people had made a circle for them. The music began.
---------If they knew what would happen next...
Chapter 2 - The new plan: show
---------First there was a girl's scream. A long, very long scream, covered by the music, and Mario didn't hear it. But Yoshi, far from the music that scare him (understand him, he is a dinosaur) heard the long scream. He looked at the window, where the girl was pointing at, but he saw nothing but the moon. Or there was nothing, or it was moving... But Yoshi look at the other windows, and he saw it, and to Luigi to warn him.
---------There was a second scream, shorter, but stronger, and the music stopped. Everyone starred at the window. Mario left Peach on the dance floor and look through the window.
---------There were a float of huge flying boats outside.
---------Then a huge cannon shot came, and then an explosion, and finally some screams outside. An airship was coming to the Castle, and Mario said :
---------"Everybody stay calm !"
---------Everyone was panicing, but nobody moved, justr starred at the window. There were some others cannon shots, some others scream, but outside. Bowser wasn't attacking the Castle ?
---------But Mario thought too quickly, and a new cannon came, and a wall of the livingroom exploded. Everyone ran. When the smoke disappeared, Mario noticed a huge metallic bullet, held by a chain. The bullet opened, and a grappling hook appeared. The chain was dragging back, and the hook attached at the wall. Mario was laying on the floor, next to Peach and Eddie. He did't have the time to stand up that a new explosion came, from the right opposite, breaking a new wall. Many bricks fell next to Mario, but he didn't move. The new bullet was exactly like the first one, and some seconds later, the hook was attached on the wall. New screams outside. A third cannon shot towards the Castle exploded a new wall, but Mario didn't know where, because he was holding his face next to the floor, to protect it from the flying bricks. But Eddie shouted :
---------"NOOOOO ! MY CAKE !
----------God damn your cake, Eddie !"
---------Finally, there was a fourth and last cannon shot, to break the last wall, and to attached the hook to this wall. Then there was a big silence.
---------Some people thought of a miracle. That the attack stopped. There were no screams outside anymore. No cannon shot. Some people started to stand up, looking right, then left, searching for their family, the youngs helping the olds. But Mario doesn't believe in miracles, and he stayed there, face against the floor, hoping that everyone is alright. Finally, thinking that it was safe, he tried to stand up, but a huge "CRAAACK !" made him go back on the floor.
---------By looking around, he notice that everyone did the same thing. Some had fallen, but everyone was laying on the floor. But this safe floor started to tremble, and Mario heard a new "CRAAACK", and the floor really started to move. He looked through the window, and he understood : Bowser was taking the Castle with him.
---------"Everybody ! Let's get out of here !" he shouted.
---------New panic. Everybody was standing up in two seconds, and Mario opened the doors of the Castle.
---------The castle was already two meters above the ground, and some people down were starring at the Castle that was flying to moon.
---------"Everyone ! Jump in the ditches ! It's full of waters, you won't get hurt !"
---------But nobody moved.
---------"Come on !"
---------There were some footsteps, and Yoshi, Eddie seated on his back, jumped, arrived in the water and climbed the bank and they seated on the earth.
---------"Come on ! shouted Mario. We can all do it."
---------Everybody started to run, pushed each other, jump in the ditches and climbed the bank. Some sometimes fell on another person, some arrived on the bridge, some just stumbled just in front of the door and fell in the water. Almost the whole city was out in the streets, except Mr Eaglehead and Peach, arguing on which one would go first.
---------"Come on, we don't have the whole day !"
---------But Peach and Mr Eaglehead seemed to don't have heard...
---------"Come on, Princess Peach, you have the priority...
---------- No, Mr Eaglehead. With all you have done for me, you must pass.
---------- Come on, you are the queen of Kingdom. No no no. You first.
---------- Sorry to disturb you, Princess, said Mario while Peach was ready to ripost, but we are in emergency right now ! So if you could please hurry up...
---------- No, Mario, Mr Eaglehead will go first."
---------Mario slapped is forehead, and before Mr Eaglehead could replied, he took him by the hand, saying :
---------"Alright ! Let's-a go !"
---------And they ran at the door. The Castle was already five meters high. Seeing that he wasn't about to jump, he pushed him, and he fell in the water.
---------Mario made a U-turn. Peach was running, but the dress wasn't helping her. Mario shouted :
---------"Come on Princess ! We mu--"
---------There was again a cannon shot, and it hit Mario right in his head. Mario fell in the water, just next to Mr.Eaglehead. Then, the castle were too high, and Peach couldn't jump...
---------Yoshi removed Eddie that stayed on its back, and started to run. He jumped on a tree, reached the top, and jumped into the castle, by a broken window. Then two last cannon shots hit the door, and the window, leaving no way out of the castle.
---------"NOOO ! PRINCESS PEACH ! YOSHI !"
---------But it was too late.
---------Mario looked around him. There was Eddie, lying on his back, in the smoked grass, and Mr.Eaglehead seated next to him, completly wet. Then behind them, all the guests, waiting for something, hoping that Mario would say something.
---------He climbed the bank, and stood up, in front of everyone, and asked :
---------"Have you seen Luigi ?"
---------Nobody answered "Yes".
---------Mario approched the people, starring at him.
---------"Then we must look for him. Everyone who has enough strengh to help me, please, I'm waiting for you."
---------Eddie stood up, and a few people with him, and joined Mario.
---------"Alright" he continued "You, you, and you, you go to the bridge. You, and you, to the city gates. You and you, to the woods. Me, I'll go to the Delfino Square. Good luck everyone." Then he looked at Eddie : "Eddie, you stayed with your father. Prepare something for everyone. They must be starving."
---------Then the group split up. Mario went alone. He kept walking, looking every street, every road, and when he heard a noise, he started to run, and then he saw a cat, or a mouse. No Luigi. He was running in a street, when voices spoke at his left...
---------"Yes, Master. The castle is ours. The plan worked."
---------There was an other voice, deeper, it seemed it was breaking the night...
---------"Did you doubt it ?"
---------"No, of course not, Your Majesty Bowser's plans are always pefect, and cannot fail."
---------Mario heard pretty well that the voice wasn't sure...
---------"Of course they are. You are right, Magikoopa. So is the part two possible to achieve ? Who stayed in the castle ?"
---------"There is Peach, of course, I saw Yoshi jumped in, Luigi and Daisy hasn't escaped. The plan worked pretty well."
---------"Good. Now I can pass to this second part."
---------Mario looked at the scene right now. He saw Bowser taking a bracelet which Magikoopa was giving him. But when he was about to put it :
---------"Wait, your Greatness. Is it perfectly safe to do this ? You don't fear that Mario discovered anything ? If he knows that, this will fail everything."
---------"Don't worry, the other one is locked deep in the castle. You have nothing to fear. No give me the bracelet."
---------And Magikoopa gave it. But when Bowser was putting it, a Goomba appeared just in front of te face Mario, Mario fell on his back. The Goomba shouted:
---------"HE IS HERE !"
---------Bowser removed the bracelet, and shouted back:
---------"EVERY TROUPS ! AFTER HIM !"
---------Mario ran for his life, right, left straight ahead. At least, Goombas and Koopas were very slow creatures, but Lakitus (Koopas flying on a cloud) were faster. They were throwing Spinies on Mario. Mario ran as fast as he could, but he started to get tired. He ran in a house, and closed the door behind him.
---------Long silence. Mario thought he escaped, but...
---------A new cannon shot arrived in the ceiling of the house, and Bullet Bills flew in the house. Mario ran by the other door arrived in the Delfino Square.
---------He ran, then slowed down whan he arrived at the middle of the square, then he shouted :
---------"HELP !"
---------Nobody answered.
---------"HELP !"
---------There was a noise, but it was only a gust of wind...
---------"Help..."
---------Then he fainted.
