Pikmin ~ Perilous Journeys

Act 1
---------------------------------------------------------------------------
Prologue ~ Olimar’s Worries
---------------------------------------------------------------------------
Captain Olimar is an interstellar captain who gathers treasures to make money for his company, Hocotate Freight. Hocotate Freight always seems to be on the verge of bankruptcy, but Olimar travels back to the planet Earth to collect treasures, which his company sells. One hot summer day Olimar was called to his boss’s office…
Olimar knocked on the door. A voice from within called, “Come in.” Olimar opened the door and stepped inside. Inside the office were file cabinets and bookshelves from wall to wall. In the middle of the office their sat a deep brown office desk, and sprawled on top of the desk were piles of papers and folders. Sitting behind the desk was Olimar’s boss, Wobres (Kudos to whoever knows what that name is similar to!).
“Ah Olimar, I wanted to speak to you.” Said Wobres. He set down his pen and stood up.
“Now I have some good news, and some bad news.” He continued as he started stepping back and forth like he was thinking. “Now the bad news is that the company sails are IN THE TOILET!” Wobres pulled down a graph from the wall. “Now this,” He said as he pointed to the front of a line on the wall, “Is the companies profit from when you went back to Earth a second time. And this,” Wobres said as he pointed down to the end of the line, which seemed to be a lot lower, “Are our sales now.”
“Mama-mia!” Olimar exclaimed.
Wobres scorned Olimar, “Now Olimar, that is not your catchphrase. Just because your Japanese name is an anagram of that catchphrase’s owner does not mean you can say it. Our sales are bad enough without you getting us sued for copyright infringement. Now do you understand?”
“But sir…” Olimar started.
“NO BUTS! NOW YOU SHUT UP AND LISTEN TO ME! Okay?” Wobres yelled.
“Okay, now to get back on track. So I need you to go back to earth to get more treasure.” Wobres said, “Now the good news is you get to play with your little Pikmin buddies.”
Olimar objected, “But sir, we are doing serious work there, no little baby tea time.”
“I don’t care, now get a good nights sleep and be ready by eight o’clock next morning, okay?” Wobres asked.
He turned to Olimar and repeated, “OKAY?”
Olimar grumbled, “Okay…”
“That’s what I want to hear, now goodbye, I have tons of work.”
Olimar turned around and stepped over a pile of papers as he exited the room. He closed the door behind him. He turned left and walked over to his room, all the way thinking, ‘I wonder what its going to be like? Will the Pikmin remember me? Will it be different? I wonder if I will discover some new types…’.
When Olimar reached his room’s door he stood there thinking a while. Then he opened the door and stepped inside. It was dark inside his room so Olimar turned on the light switch. He got into his Burrowing Snarrow fur pajamas, quite a luxury, and laid down into bed. Olimar lay awake and staring up at the ceiling, worrying about what Earth will be like. Soon after Olimar dozed off…
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Chapter 1 ~ We Have Lift-Off
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
“Ah someone save me!” Yelled Olimar as he was running from a Bulborb. The bulborb pounced forward and Olimar was hit. He fell over dazed as some Dwarf Bulborbs ran out and started ripping his clothes off.
Olimar screamed, “Stop no! Save me! Please stop! Ahh…” Suddenly Olimar heard a voice.
“Wake up! Come one!” Said the voice.
Olimar responded, “What? Who said that? Seriously! HELP ME!”
Olimar was shaken awake. He mumbled and twisted and turned in his bed.
“Come on wake up! You’ll be late!” Said the voice again.
Olimar slowly woke up and opened his eyes. Leaning over him was Louie and Olimar was surprised.
“AH!” Olimar flinched, “What are you doing here?” he exclaimed.
Louie responded, “I’m here to wake you up. You’re going to be late for the lift-off!” Louie jumped off the bed and walked over to the door.
“Get dressed and I’ll meet you outside” Is what Louie said before he left.
Olimar got up and went over his drawer. He opened and searched for his space suit.
“Ah there it is!” Olimar said when he found the suit. The space suit had red gloves, a beige body, and a red life support unit in the back. Olimar pulled off his pajamas and fitted into the space suit. He then reached for the space helmet on a shelf and put it on.
Once Olimar was done getting ready he left his room. He then walked down to the hallway to the exit of the building. Olimar opened the door and stepped out.
He was hit with a wave of heat, because strangely, Hocotate Freight was located in a desert, which was always hot. Olimar stepped down and started walking around a path to the back of the building. A tumbleweed blew by him. Located behind the building was an asphalt slab, which on it was the company’s ship, the S. S. Faithful.
When Olimar had returned from Earth for the second time, he brought back riches, and the ship was coated with gold. Now that the company is becoming bankrupt again they stripped of all the gold, which the ship hated, and sold the gold. The
S. S. Faithful was now coated with a fresh coat of paint, which was being stripped by the hot desert winds.
Waiting for Olimar in front of the ship were Wobres and Louie. Louie was also now in his space suit. When Olimar stepped onto the asphalt slab and approached them, Wobres announced, “Ah Olimar! You’re late. Now let me give you you’re briefing.
“As you know, the company is going bankrupt. You also know you need to go back to earth. Now Louie is also going to join you. When you get there, I need you collect at least 1,000,000,000 Pokos worth of treasure.”
Olimar and Louie both stared at Wobres.
“But sir! That’s a ton of treasure! I got pretty much all of it last time I went, I don’t know if we can get that much.” Olimar exclaimed.
Wobres smiled and said, “But you only explored about one-one hundredth of the planet. There is bound to be tons of treasure on the other parts.” He continued, “When you went there, the S. S. Faithful got WAY more geographical info.”
“Sorry…” the ship apologized.
Wobres responded, “It’s okay. But you did it for Olimar and Louie’s own good. You sensed large and dangerous beasts living in the other zones, so you didn’t reveal them.”
The ship said, “Precisely.”
Louie interjected, “So w-we are gonna g-go to the d-dangerous p-places?” He stuttered.
The S. S. Faithful answered, “Oh don’t worry. It won’t be that bad. We got you stronger weapons!”
“Say what?” Staggered Olimar as he stepped back, “New weapons? I’ve never been that good fighting… Although I going in commando style does save some Pikmin…”
The ship responded, “Precisely. When you do not know what to expect, equip the proper tools and go out to scout out the region. Then you can map out a strategy.”
Louie said, “Cool! So what did you get us?”
Wobres answered, “A rocket fist, proto shield, grapple hook, laser gun, and a Radar/Map/Status report.”
“Great, so when do we leave?” Olimar asked.
The ship said, “We plan for you to leave soon. Just get inside!”
At that point the rocket opened the cockpits and a ladder lowered. Olimar said, “Goodbye.”
“Goodbye Olimar.” Wobres solemnly said.
Olimar climbed up the ladder into his cockpit and Louie followed. The cockpits clamped closed as the rocket started it engine.
“Liftoff in ten.” Boomed the Ship.
Olimar buckled in.
“Nine.”
Olimar turned on his space faring program.
“Eight”
Olimar put his hands on the wheel.
“Seven”
Olimar turned and turned to Wobres.
“Six”
Olimar saluted.
“Five”
Wobres saluted back.
“Four”
the smoke swallowed the ship.
“Three”
Wobres stepped back.
“Two”
Olimar sighed.
“One” The ship ended, “Now turning to manual flying. See you guys when we enter the atmosphere of Earth.”
The engine roared and the ship flew up. Wobres watched the ship until it was a red spot in the sky.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Chapter 2 ~ Deep Space
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Deep within the darkest recesses of space a lonely dark planet sits. The only speck of civilization on that shadowy planet is a tall dark grey steel & glass skyscraper. A sign sits in front of the main entrance of that building, and the sign says, 'Shadow Inc.'
A high voice said, "We cannot let Wobres' little captain Olimar get to earth. Not with all the experiments."
Another voice agreed, "Yes, it is to dangerous. If they see what is happening the FBI and Police will be all over us, and we cannot risk that."
The high voice asked, "Shall we release the beast?"
A deep voice answered, "Yes, we shall."
The deep voice's arm held up a black remote with a big red button over it. It's thumb hovered over the button for a second, but then it pressed the button.
A voice was emitted from the remote, "Monster released" it said in a robotic voice. The deep voice smiled at his evil deed. The deep voice started chuckling. Then it started laughing. Soon all the voices in that room were laughing with the deep voice.
The ship flew gracefully through the sky like some tropical bird, spinning and twisting leaving a trail of exhaust as it navigated the meteor fields. Olimar pulled up his walky-talky and spoke into it,
“Hello Louie, you okay?” Olimar asked. Louie didn’t respond so Olimar repeated, “Louie, I repeat, are you okay?” Louie still did not respond so Olimar looked behind him and saw Louie fast asleep. Olimar grumbled, turned around, and continue flying the ship.
Soon the ship had passed the meteor fields and was entering Deep Space. Olimar nervously looked left and right, making sure nothing was coming their way. This was his least favorite part in travelling, the dark, quiet, malicious vacuum of space, which he nicknamed “Deep Space”. He had always been scared when travelling in the empty zone between the solar systems. Even though he could see stars, they were trillions of light years away, and at his speed it would take a lifetime to get to them. Also he couldn’t use hyper speed, because he would catapult far away from his target. When he gets closer Olimar will be able to activate the hyper speed mode.
Just then the ship shook and Olimar saw a dark shape zooming around the ship.
“It’s okay Olimar, just a meteor or space junk.” Olimar reassured himself, although he knew it was highly un-probable for it to be a meteor or any other object. Olimar was getting scared and nervous. He put the ship in auto drive and clutched the walky-talky with both his hands. Olimar started yelling into it trying to wake up Louie, but it was no use. Meanwhile the dark shape had successful hit after successful hit.
Olimar was getting desperate, so he activated the alarm. A red LED light flashed above in each cockpit as a loud alarm blared. Louie’s eyes flashed open as he woke up. Louie erected straight up and looked around. He picked up his walky-talky and asked,
“What’s wrong Olimar?”
Olimar responded, “There is something outside hitting the ship.”
The ship shook again from the thing hitting it.
Louie said, “Oh. What is it?”
“I have no idea! I see a dragon shape, but it is to dark to be su-“
Just then the large beast slammed into the hull and was looking into Louie’s cockpit. It roared loudly and started banging its scaly head into the window. The alarm light up the monsters face and showed that it was indeed dragon-like. It had dark green scales and many scars all over it. One eyes was even gouged out. It had long, curved teeth and a large flat tongue. It two large wings were two times larger than the body. Tubes seem to come out from its back and go into a machine on its back.
Olimar and Louie screamed. Olimar yelled,
“Activating scanner!” as he pressed a button and pulled a lever. A metal arm extended from the ship with a satellite dish on the tip. The dragon struck the ship again with its large, muscled tail, which stopped the scanner for a little. But it quickly recovered and was on its way again. Three fingers can out from the arm and reached for the dragon. It latched on and started scanning, but the dragon roared and shook it off, then responded with another tail-whack. The scanner ripped off and flew into the depths of space.
“Well there goes 10,000,000 Pokos!” Olimar grumbled as he reached for another lever, and pulled it.
“What do we do!” Louie screamed as he cowered down into his chair and covered his head with his arms.
Another scanner came out, but when it tried to latch onto the monster it just angered it more, so the dragon ripped it off like the other one and hit the ship again.
“We are gonna die!” Louie screamed.
Louie was right, almost actually. The ship flashed off and stop running. The dragon couldn’t see them anymore, so it thought it had won. The dragon flew off and sped away. The ship slowly glided into another solar system.
“Louie?” Olimar asked as he turned around, “You okay?”
Louie answered, “Yep. I’m alive.”
“Good thing it did not crack the glass. Thank you technology!” Olimar said happily.
“Yep.”
“Well, what do we do now?”
“I don’t know.”
“O-okay…” Louie whimpered.
“It’s gonna be okay Louie.” Olimar reassured him.
Just then the ship whirred to life a little, the beeped “Life support activated. Please stay put.” Then it died again.
Louie nested into his chair a little, then fell asleep.
Olimar leaned back into his chair and sighed.
