Hi. I'm going to start this since I have the whole plot planned out. So. Void Conspiracy is on hold.
I've decided that this will be a mixture of Forum story/real fiction. Enjoy:)
--Wondering about the random title and bracketed text at the end? The title of the chapters are a song name and the text at the end is a lyric from that song. The lyrics have something to do with the chapter. It should make a little more sense as the story progresses.

chapter one
hurricane
Elliot’s hazel eyes locked onto the last copy of the game. The storekeeper had stated that they had sold out earlier that day, but apparently not because even after she had blinked several times, Kolosus’s shining case stared back at her. Without further astonishment, Elliot grabbed the case and ran it to the check-out counter to make her purchase.
“Hello ma’am! You ready to check out?” asked the man behind the counter. Elliot could sense the annoyance that he’d stifled in his voice. His shift was dwindling down, and he wanted to head home.
“Um, yes! I found another copy of Kolosus! The owner had said that they were sold out…” responded Elliot.
“Oh, well, I guess he just didn’t see this one. I’ll go ahead and ring it up. Would you like to purchase a specialty headset? They're limited edition,” stated the clerk.
Elliot had lost her headset that she’d bought last Christmas. It was probably somewhere in her parents house, she guessed, because they hadn’t shown up around her newly refurbished apartment. Besides, the headset swaying tantalizingly in the clerk’s hand looked quite amazing. The name “Kolosus” spiraled on both earpieces and the beasts that were featured in the game loomed over the sides. “Sure!”
So Elliot left the shop with the game and an unexpected add-on. Elliot ran a few more errands before finally heading home in the rare Seattle sunshine. Even if the clouds had decided to pour their loads, Elliot’s good mood would not be
shattered. She needed to get home to play this game. Her friend had been talking about its greatness for about a week now.
Elliot pulled down the overhead mirror and looked in it. What an odd girl, she thought. Elliot had always been a sort of universal friend, able to talk to the girliest of the girls and the toughest of the guys. She loved to go shopping…but she also loved to sit on her bed and play a round or two of her favorite first-person shooters. She loved a day out with the friends for a short pedicure, but she could play a game of football just as well as the boys around campus.
The Saturday sun pierced through the windows of her tiny Volkswagen Beetle when she turned onto the road leading to the apartment complex. She’d opted out of a dorm room because she’d rather be closer to the city. However rainy Seattle may be, she cherished this city.
Elliot rushed to haul in the groceries and various other products and organize them around her tidy apartment. Another strange thing. Elliot despised disorganization. She wasn’t obsessive-compulsive about it, but something about repeated untidiness irked her. After finishing with the task of sorting through countless grocery bags, Elliot ate a quick and sufficient TV dinner or mashed potatoes and Salisbury steak. She’d gotten quite used to meals like this, even though it was practically like eating plastic. She was a very unrestricted and avid snacker though, but she went to the gym often after classes. So, one may ask, when does a busy college student find time for video games? Saturdays, of course.
Elliot placed the dirty silverware in the sink and headed off to her bedroom to start Kolosus. She flopped on her bed after she had slid the disc in and eagerly awaited as it loaded, remote in hand. The first screen that came was bright green, and the only audio heard were small clicks as Elliot clicked through several settings and options. The final option asked if she’d bought the headset. Why did it matter, Elliot thought. Won’t any headset work the same? She selected the “Yes” option and another blank loading screen pulled up.
“Please turn on your limited edition headset before starting the game,” Elliot read aloud. “What? I don’t want to play online now. Gah. Fine, whatever you want, game.”
Elliot ran to the kitchen, nabbed her headset, and hurried to her room. She flipped the tiny “Start” switch, and the loading screen turned to a solid blue.
“You’ve got to be kidding me,” Elliot huffed. All the anticipation for a faulty copy. With a sigh, Elliot hoisted herself off of the bed and made her way to the game console to eject the disc, but in mid-stride, a feeble buzzing began to echo around the room. The tone grew until it turned from a buzz into an inaudible pounding that paralyzed Elliot, her feet glued to the floor as the sound ricocheted around her ear canals. She swiveled her eyes in the direction of the television.
“Good Luck” she mouthed as the noise shocked every nerve in her body. Bright spots splattered into her vision and as every cell in her being vibrated with the tone. A few more seconds of silent pain passed until Elliot finally fell to the ground with a muffled thump.

Elliot awoke on a bed of silky flowers. Insects swam through her foggy vision, but as her eyesight cleared, she noticed that this wasn’t just a flowerbed. This was a village. She glanced at her surroundings, and processed the sights of many houses and a giant skyscraper that loomed of the town, casting its long shadow over a strip of the meadow where Elliot lay. The sun was beginning to set over the hillside to what she suspected to be the west when she noticed a man sitting on his porch swing. Deciding to talk to him, she stood up, disoriented, and began toward the house.
The man noticed her and got up from a sitting position to meet her. His grin of pure happiness could not be hidden. “You made it!” he yelled to her.
“What? Made it where? Who are you?” she slurred. Elliot began to think that this was just a dream, but every time she’d squeeze her eyes shut, the newly found world stared back at her, vibrant and fully REAL.
“Hah! You okay? I’d imagine you’d be tired,” said the man, his eyes wide with sympathy and his grin still ear-to-ear.
“You didn’t answer me,” Elliot snapped back, worry and panic setting in.
“Oh! I’m MessengerOfDreams. And this, my friend, is Runouw,” he answered as the sun finally set. The lights of the city flickered on in a sliver of a second, and Elliot took in the actual greatness of the city. This place was gigantic.
“Er-“ Elliot stammered.
“Dumbstruck? I was too, after the expansion. You know, I own a motel on the east side, unless you'd rather explore. No worries about cost, I'll cover it. ” asked the Messenger.
“Um…sure..MessengerOf..er..”
“Dreams!” his smile widened, “you can call me MoD.”
What a…strange name, Elliot thought as she followed the man back to his home. He seemed quite sincere, and she would need a place to sleep anyway, so she accepted. MoD offered a room to Elliot and left her there after a short goodbye. She pulled down the blue covers and slipped under them. It took her a while to fall asleep because the only thing that scrolled through her numbed brain was “Will I ever see Seattle again?” But the true exhaustion finally won over her overworked conscious, and she drifted into a dreamless slumber.
