Buff and the others in the chat said it was okay to post my essay here, so here I go!
Quote Assignment
Out of all the quotes I heard, I prefer the one I made myself-
“There is nothing to fear but fear itself. Yet fear isn’t the fear we believe in. Fear is with us, but isn’t around us. Fear lives off of us, but it isn’t a bug. Fear isn’t anything, but someone. The true fear is in ourselves.”-Clayton Heard
What exactly does this quote mean? Well, I discovered that out of everything I’ve feared, it was always myself that I feared the most. Sure, I am scared of spiders and heights, but all this isn’t a true fear. Fear isn’t what we are scared of at all. Fear isn’t created. Fear isn’t in a physical form we see. In fact, fear is what we believe. Fear is what we don’t want to happen. I hate being excluded or alone. I fear death of a loved one. I even fear death to myself. But all this doesn’t exist in someone else, our fears are just from what we are scared of. Fears live in everyone on Earth, but mainly, our fears live in ourselves.
The history of this quote came from when I was online a forum. One of the topics was “What’s your favorite quote?”. When I clicked the reply and typed in “There is nothing to fear but fear itself”, I began to wonder…..what is fear? Where is fear? Who is the true fear in ourselves? And then it came to me, fear isn’t anything but ourselves. We are the true fear. Fires, closed-in spaces, war……It’s all what we don’t want to happen! Fear isn’t anything but what we pray won’t happen. For fear isn’t anything but what we are. We are the fear in our lives, and the sooner we don’t fear ourselves, the sooner we stop believing in our fears.
…..Oh, and I made the quote myself.
Thank you for reading,
Clayton
