When riding a bicycle home one day, a newspaper clerk named Joe Paliento skidded and slid over to a hole below a tree.

Life was never the same for Joe. He fell into the hole, sustaining many injuries. When he stopped falling, he was perfectly fine. The world he was in was very dark, but he could see stars above him.
A creature came up to him. Joe could only make out a faint human-like outline. As it came closer, Joe could see a faint glowing aura surrounding it. The creature then passed straight into him. He felt a strong power, then a great pain.
