白い葉

Fall comes, but so do the other seasons. For Rasu (らす) this is a very special season. It is when the cold air rushes in and whisks away crunchy leaves. Only 12 years old, Rasu just loved jumping into any pile of leaves she could find. Every day at one o'clock in the afternoon she would go outside to play in her yard. She traveled very far, though, from where she had to be. Her mother, Shichi (しち), never got worried about her. Rasu always returned before three o'clock. Today was a different day, though. There were hardly any leaves to jump into, and the sun made the air a bit warmer. Rasu knew something was wrong and continued her path down the brick road.

As she continued turmoil stirred in her stomache. She knew something was definitely wrong now, but what was it? As she looked back a white leaf lay just out of her vision. Slowly turning her head back again she caught a glimpse of it. Now all the way turned around Rasu walked slowly towards the leaf in amazement and wonder. She had never seen such a miscolored leaf in her life. She could only stare at its originality for a few minutes. Then Rasu went skipping home, with a huge smile on her face.

A strange figure followed her home, doing nothing but following. He wondered why she was smiling, when the leaf in her hand represented a soul that now burns in hell. Toru (とる) was the demon, not angel, of death. When a soul was dropped from heaven, he would pick up a leave and change its color to white through magic. Then he would send the soul down to the bowels of all despair. It's only a coincedence someone actually found a white leaf. They disappear after one day of being on earth.

The little girl Rasu continued skipping, and the demon of death Toru kept on drifting. When they reach their destination only an open jaw portraid the scene before them. The little girl gasped and Toru just stared. Rasu fell to her knees and the demon of death could only watch in agony as the little girl weeped.
