THE CREED: Nothing is True. Everything is Permitted.
"...That's rather cynical."

"It would be if it were doctrine, but it is merely an observation of the nature of reality.
To say that Nothing is True is to realize that the foundations of society are fragile, and that we must be the shephards of our own civilization.
To say that Everything is Permitted is to understand that we are the architects of our actions, and that we must live with the consequences, whether glorious...or tragic."

It's a bit of surreal humor. If you don't get it, you don't have the sense of humor required to understand it. Wrote that for someone for this thing called "asdfcomp"

NO!!!!!!!

......it sounds funny, but I don't get it, I feel like I'm supposed to laugh, and that I should, but I'm not.

Damn I wish I had the sense of humor required to understand that.

That's called "Anti-humor", my friend. It's the shock produced by the lack of a definite punchline, or just the sheer weirdness of the situation. I guess the script did it's job correctly, then.

I actually thought is was funny due to its sheer randomness and absolute lack of sense.

Little taste of a short film I'm writing, inspired by Scott Pilgrim.
======================================================
(Marshall sits at a desk in the corner of his dorm room, writing in his notebook. Two beanbags sit in front of and L-shaped sofa, and there's a widescreen TV in front of the sofa. The door to the door slams open, and Johnny is seen in the door frame. A nameplate of Johnny is displayed above his head, reading: "JOHNNY HAWX: Marshall's best friend, football player, budding botany enthusiast")

Johnny: Watcha got there?
Marshall: Just a script I've been working on for a while. Right around ten pages now. I'm pretty proud of the progress I've made so far.
Johnny: That's cool. Mind if I take a look?
Marshall: (Handing script to Johnny) Here, go right ahead.

(Johnny snatches the notebook and hurls it across the room)

Marshall: What the hell was that for?
Johnny: What day is it today?
Marshall: Friday.
Johnny: And what time is it right now?
Marshall: About 6:30 P.M. Wait...

(A calender titled "Marshall's Schedule of Important Things" now covers the screen. There are black slashes through every square except for Friday the 23rd, where there are 2 small blocks of text. The camera zooms in quickly on the square, revealing the two events: "1:00 P.M. Return old games, get new ones for Retro Game Night" and "6:30 P.M. RETRO GAME NIGHT")

Marshall: Oh.

(Johnny grabs Marshall's keys off of the key hook above the counter near the sofa and throws them to Marshall)

Johnny: Get your ♥♥♥ over to that game store.

(Jenny steps through the door. A nameplate is displayed above her head: "JENNIFER FALCON: Marshall's friend; still hasn't gotten over an awkward prom night with Marshall")

Jenny: Hey guys, ready to play some Teenage Mu- (Marshall goes zooming out the door right past her)

(Jenny turns around to Marshall, finding him quickly turning a corner in the dorm hallway)

Johnny: (Plopping himself down on the L-shaped sofa) Marshall-
Jenny: Forgot about Retro Game Night again? You don't have to tell me.
Johnny: Yep.
Jenny: Forgot the money to pay off his late fees?
Johnny: Yep.
Jenny: I'll go get my purse and catch up with him.

(Johnny gets up, walks to the mini-fridge on the counter and opens it. The words "BEER SUPPLY" appear above the fridge, with 12 pixelated beer bottles floating next to it. 11 have a large red "X" on top of them. Johnny pulls a bottle out, grabs a bottle opener in the drawer beneath the fridge, and takes the bottlecap off. A red "X" appears over the remaining beer bottle next to the "BEER SUPPLY" meter above the fridge)

Johnny: Might wanna pick up some Coronas while you're out.
Jenny: Will do.

(Johnny grabs Jenny's keys from the key hook above the counter and tosses them to her. Jenny walks out of the room and closes the door behind her. Johnny takes a sip of his beer. Another nameplate appears above his head, reading: "JOHNNY HAWX: Professional key tosser")

Let's test you out before I give you a segment of TRC, because I always wanted to see TRC as a movie. Pipe dreams, you know.

But for now, let's test out Legacy, by me. :D The prologue. :D
