I decided to start making scary stories, and since they are going to be short I'll be putting all of them in one topic. Just a note...
THESE STORIES ARE, AND NEVER WILL BE, TRUE. IF YOU THINK THAT ANYONE OF THESE STORIES ARE TRUE, YOU EITHER HAVE SERIOUS READING PROBLEMS, OR YOU DON'T PAY ATTENTION TO ALL CAPS TEXT!
There, I got that off of my chest.
The Revenge of the Game
A while ago, Twighlight Princess came out for the Gamecube and Wii. I got the Gamecube
one. I beat the game two times and was about to beat it a third time but I stopped playing right before I got to Hyrule Castle. Many years later, I grew up, got married, and had two sons. I still had all of my games, so I gave them to my kids. When they first started playing Twilight Princess, as they created a new profile, I saw my decade-old profile that I had never bothered to finish, and the memories came back. I then longed to finish the game, despite growing out of video games.
One day, when work had been canceled due to heavy rain, and all other possible activities were taken over by the family, I sat down on the couch in the play room and started up Twilight Princess. I selected my profile, and everything started. In the game, I walked into Hyrule Castle, and started killing the enemies and solving puzzles. As I walked around, I found that area where you have to turn into a wolf and dig in the place the ghosts were pointing at. I turned wolf, turned on my vision, and was horrified to see ghosts all over the place. They were crying, walking around, some even followed my character. As I moved on, I got to the area where there was supposed to be another ghost area, but it was instead a big hall that could only be traversed with the vision. As I walked on, I saw ghosts of all of the bosses in the game. They were all violently slashed in lots of places, they had some remarkably gruesome injuries on them, and they reacted violently when I walked towards them. As I went on, a creepy version of an old zelda theme was playing, getting louder as I walked on. When I had gotten to a separate room from the hall, I got trapped in there, along with the ghost of Zant. I stayed as far away as possible from him, and found a chest that could only be opened in normal form. When I opened it, there was nothing. I turned to look and screamed when I noticed that the Zant ghost was still seeable, even without the vision. Assuming that the only way out was to interact with the Zant ghost, I walked over and touched him. Suddenly loud, sudden music started playing as millions of Zant ghost clones danced all over the room, each dance unique. Suddenly, my character died without warning, and the game over screen appeared, but with Zant as the background, scaring the life out of me. I wanted to turn the game off, I just wanted to, but I had the feeling that the game was trying to tell me something, so I restarted.
I found myself in the area before Ganondorf. I had been stripped of all equipment, and I only had the ordon sword with me. I walked into the boss area, and the cutscene was skipped and I got right to fighting Possessed Zelda. The graphics were glitching up, and occasionally, for a split second, Link's graphic would change to the phrase " Don't Abandon Me". As I attempted the battle with just an ordon sword, I realized that I couldn't reflect Zelda's energy balls. I continued on anyways. After a while, I somehow got onto the back of Zelda, and, in a cutscene, Link started violently stabbing her with the ordon sword. I couldn't even watch. After Zelda dropped to the floor, dead, the screen froze and blanked into black. Then, all of a sudden, the phrase "I wanted to challenge you to a hard challenge for the third time, but you left me before that could happen. You have gotten your punishment." popped up as Zant's scream came up. The wii gave a few sparks, fell on its side, and it automatically turned off. I took this chance to run out of there and I never let anybody in for the rest of the day.
The next day, my older son came in and started playing Twilight Princess. My file had been deleted. He started up on his file, not noticing. As it turned out, he was about to beat Twilight Princess. As he walked on to Hyrule Castle, I yelled at him to stop, telling him of the scariness of it. However, none of my experiences happened, everything was normal as if it never happened. My son told my wife about this, and I had to admit that I had an experience with the game. She took me to see a psychiatrist, and he seemed very interested in my case, of how a game was angry at someone for leaving it just before the final challenges. He had me play the entirety of Twilight Princess with him watching, and nothing similar to my experiences happened, even at the Hyrule Temple, so he told me that I was hallucinating the whole thing, that I never even played it, and I had some fear in me that my game will take revenge, and during that hallucination, I had erased my game before turning off the wii. This calmed me down until a few years later, when I was diagnosed with the inability to hallucinate, and it was with me ever since I was born.
