[Volkove]

This second part certainly picks up the slack compared to the first, both in graphics and gameplay. There are very interesting combinations of tiles and terrain, and the mechanical workings, while unusual and unorthodox, are still surprisingly effective. The setup also works well, and I cannot think of any problems with it.

The boss is surprisingly well designed as well, although it could have been taken more seriously without googly eyes. The structure of the fight itself is normally object able with the reliance on finicky bullet jumping and forced damage, but the partial healing stars make up for it, and the crushing surprisingly didn't glitch out either, so I cannot really make any objections in this regard.

That being said, it still suffers from some of the same flaws as the first. While the signs do not possess the same ellipses overuse, the lack of discernible direction remains a problem. The player faith bit with the red coins is also questionable as well; why not put the backtrack pipe on the other side instead, just in case? At least there isn't a problem with ambiguity, if only because the entire thing is more straight forward this time around.

Finally, I'm not fond of the way it ends, since there is no clear defeat for the Normabot. It merely consists of one collecting a shine nearby without much fuss, and it is awfully anticlimactic. Granted, there's a finale afterwards, but there's practically zero transition / setup for that either. Adding something in between would have been nice to better show the outcome / results.

I kinda agree with Volcove, but to be honest I still remember that Normabot fight. This level was truly memorable.
