TTOTMC: Quattom Outskirts

Enigma Star: The Only One Here!
Mario found a mysterious portal near an uncharted lake. He decided to enter it, and ended up in another part of the Mushroom Kingdom. Coincidentally, he found a Video Chat Device and Princess Toadstool Peach was on the line! She revealed unsurprising news of her being kidnapped again, but to our surprise it wasn't Bowser's doing. Something strange was behind it.

Now, Mario is in a daze. He doesn't know what to do next. Therefore, he will just go with the flow and find out what is to come!

Most people do, but some don't.
Also, I am trying to make this feel like a totally new game. If it started out expecting you to know how to get around and what things do, even though you and many others DO, it just wouldn't be so much like a game introduction, I personally think. Did you notice that I invented new items? Did you even know what they were or what their purpose was?
Maybe before posting that comment you could have just ignored the lessons and got straight to playing and having fun, and then telling me what you think of it instead.
In fact, try playing this Series as if you never played Super Mario 63 before. :3

But, I appreciate you giving me a response. What did you think of the level, other than relearning things you already knew?

Exactly what Triple J said. He described it better than I could. And as far as level series go, this is rather an incredible tutorial. It captures an original feel, and is entertaining while still being a tutorial. I deem it a five-star success.

Remembers me on spyro a bit, lul. I haven't played this game for years. But it contains a nostalgic feel somehow.
How much levels have you planned for this series?

"Quattom" was just something I made up from the top of my head, but came to like it. I did not think it could have had any resemblance to Spyro... or anything.

As for levels:

As a whole, ignoring the Multiple Stars for each level, there'll be 73 levels. I KNOW IT IS A LOT. THIS IS SUPPOSED TO BE A HUGE PROJECT.

Here's the overwhelming part...
Adding onto that, with the Multiple Stars for each World, there could actually be an estimated... drum roll please... ... 202 Portal Levels.
I know that is an enormous stretch, but IT MAY CHANGE. THIS IS A WORK IN PROGRESS. FOR ALL WE KNOW, IT MAY END UP BEING 73, 100, 101, 40, OR 51, OR 63, OR 64 LEVELS.
This is also over a massive amount of time. It wouldn't be a flood if I take my time.

Well someone is ambitious. o.o I wish you the best of luck, and if you somehow manage to complete this, then you have my undying respect. I don't believe you actually will be able to, though, so prove me wrong.

I meant not the name. I meant more the collect enigma's part. Uhm. 73 levels sound indeed like extreme much time.
On another site with another level designer they got 130 levels together in about 3 years. And were around 17-20 people.
Well they hardcoded some stuff and so on. But still. If you want to have that on a better quality than average, then you would probably need to use years for that. If you have that patience, then good luck with this project.

Just needed to tell that. Since I know how long it takes to make much levels. Meh. My biggest series in my whole life had 17 huge levels. I know it's not the same. But it still took me half a year and lots of spare time.

But I like your level design style. And think you can reach high if you continue like that.

I am abnormally patient with games, level designing in particular. :arrow:

I've also done something like this already (not a level series)... with Super Mario Flash 1 & 2. I have around 175 levels with them combined, and they are pretty well-designed in my eyes. That took me about 2 1/2 years to do. :awe:

Overall,this level was great.

I understand how you are trying to make this level sort of a tutorial to brand-new game,but you could mislead those who doesn't know how to play SM63.(Never mind about them)

When I read that you were going to make 73 levels,I was totally :o.o:
