Runouw Texturepack

Okay, so there has been talk about making a Runouw texture pack for ages now, and I know a few people actually made a few sprites, but it was never anywhere near a full texturepack and typically died off until the next time someone brought it up.

But we don't really need anything extensive. Paintings reskinned, maybe update some of the more hated textures in the Default pack (glass comes to mind, and I know a few people had issues with the shade of mountain grass), so why not make a topic where we can compile ideas, and have anyone who wants to make a new texture submit it?

That's essentially the plan here. Post stuff you want to change, and make new textures for whatever you feel like. At the end, someone more in the know about how to actually make a pack can just compile them all together and we're done.

I'll probably update this post with popular suggestions so that it's easy to find what all needs to be done, along with polls and whatever to vote if more than one person submit a texture. I dunno. It's a work in progress, so just PM or message your suggestions below and if I like you enough I'll implement it.

Let me repost the ideas from the thread.

(i was the "someone" that mentioned this btw :P)


In the etched sandstone there will be a R for runouw.
Paintings for runouw fads, or a giant painting just for the runouw logo.


Imagewill be replaced with Mario
Image will be replaced with LL wizard

The 2 largest paintings replaced with gameplay pictures of LL and SM63




    Also here are a few things we will NOT have
  • Sun- Replace with Runouw.com R
  • Moon - Blablob smiley
  • Bows- Replace with gun
  • Arrow- Texture as bullet

i also have fake-OCD and that doesn't even bother me since commandblocks shouldn't be visable in the first place.

how about "RUNOUW" on a painting,in the semi-weathered-cracked style like when you start up sm63
you know what else? i think the main title screen should read:Minecraft,runouw style :D

We should actually work on this rather than just letting it die like everything else that's been started up on the forums.

Also what resolution will it be? 16x? IMO it would be cool for it to be 32x or 64x, but then people would lag : (

I too would like 32x32. I just think 16 is too small to provide a good feel for any of the pictures, and since that's the dominant change proposed thus far, having a ♥♥♥♥, out of focus Mario sprite or what have you seems sub-par when one could easily take an ingame snapshot and down the resolution a bit.

For the record I'm still highly against making any changes that would result in incoherencies, like making the red flowers blue- what sense does getting red dye from a blue flower, or a gun from wood and string make?

VenEdit: Actually, would that work? Taking a screenshot, cropping it, then minimizing it to the dimensions of the painting it's intended to replace? Because if so, hell, I'll do the paintings myself.

This sounds like a great idea, except for the part about changing bow to gun. Bows and guns have very different physics.

How about changing the blocks to look more like the ones used in LL? Like the grass, sand (even though it technically isn't in the game yet), etc? Perhaps use the cave tiles instead of stone? I would make some sample textures but I don't know how.
