Hey! Are things a little tough when you have limits? I discovered an awesome application called Game Maker and you even get to make your own things! No offence but I don't like the background in the stage select!

A) I don't understand what brings that question up, and I actually am not finding things tough to do with our limits. Nonetheless, I appreciate your concern.

B) No offense, but in Super Mario 63, you cannot use the things made in Game Maker. I have no knowledge of the program but its existence, however I am pretty sure, from taking my time to explore the forums here deeply, that it wouldn't work.

C) It's okay to say that you dislike something. Nothing could be appealing to all...

... ... ... : I really, really, REALLY don't like it myself. It is such a lag bomb.
My issue is with the available features, along with having things make enough sense.
In the game's current state, I cannot change the background between transitions. I must have a castle background in the Citadel, but at the same time, the background of the selected World. This doesn't work out. It makes no sense having a different background in the Citadel every time you choose a different World. We do not want to see any clashes.
The closest I could get to avoid any background clashes was to completely cover the background of the Citadel up. This way, the Citadel would always have the same background, no matter which alternate background is chosen.
You may think that background TILES would be a better choice, but THINK AGAIN. It lags more that way than having the "Flame Tower Background." So... I went with the latter.

So there you have it. I really do dislike it myself, but the game won't allow backgrounds to change between transitions, yet I need to make things realistic.

... Are the signs at the beginning supposed to be unreadable? If they were meant to be readable, please make it so they are higher above the ground. Otherwise I can't read them...

As for the background, yeah, I don't like it either. Just a spazmic, unappealing look and causes a lot of lag. Why don't you replace it?

Some things about the level.

The skelegoonie in the water gets weird because of the slope. This enemies work best on flat surfaces.
I get sometimes lost in the level. There should always be a main path you can follow to. (I may have lost it. But I noticed that in many levels from you before too.)
I also suggest alternative music themes for your levels to add more atmosphere into them.

I am very sorry for sounding rude. I didn't have any intentions to do so while typing that post up. But, I guess it could have been a mixed-message.

I'll just go ahead and tell you why I disabled the signs: They are all readable in each "Citadel Level," except the emphasized one which is only readable when the "Entrance" level is selected (because it revolves mainly around the free Enigma Star that is only available then.). I expected the player to read each sign when first encountering them. Therefore, they'd be pointless to read later on, but I need the Citadel to have the same look, whichever level is selected. It would be weird if the signs just magically disappear when unneeded. However, when playing a Citadel Level" other than the "Entrance" one, the player may want to have a recap on some things."
To top it off, the player would probably want to get right to playing the selected World without hesitation, because that is why the World was selected, right? This IS part of a level series, a connected series of levels, which makes more sense when you play them from the beginning.

As for the background, I still do not see why you don't remake the level and fix it?
