These involve some ideas I actually wanted to make myself... but in case my procrastination ends up killing me I'll leave this here, so the future generations of LDers can do it!

-Minigame - Make some kind of minigame using the LL engine. Something short, maybe arcade-like, I dunno, and it should take advantage of triggers.
-Minigame Game - Make a game that involves minigames! Imagine Mario Party, or Warioware, Sonic Shuffle, Crash Bash, that kind of deal.
-Puzzle - It's all about figuring out how the heck you continue. Bonus points it it involves using Delta Control.
-Algorithm Problem Solving - I'm studying to be a computer engineer, and in one of my courses I'm given a task that has to be done with a program. Inspired by that, this Contest consists of doing what the Host asks, through triggers and stuff, in the most efficient/stylish way possible. Seems cool, huh? inb4thisistoodamnhard
-Automatic Level - Make a level that is completed with no player input as awesome as possible. They do it with SMW all the time...
-Metroidvania - A level which involves a lot of exploration.

Can't think of anything else for now, so that xD
Some day I'll fix my sig.

Algorithm problem solving in LL? That is way too easy. I want an actual challange, thank you.

Still guys...I think that making specific themes ain't a good move. We want the more people we can to participate in 3LDCs, many of them who do not have a high knowledge about triggers, and they shouldn't. You don't need to make something huge with triggers to make a fun level. If you wanna do so, that is cool, but please avoid making all participants have to do so.

I do not say it for anything in particular (I am asuming Nan's was a joke) but I would like you to have this on your minds. The simpler the better, because with a simple theme people can make really complex stuff if they desire so but people can also make simple stuff as well.

Lol, I am starting to sound like the Buffoner of LL.

1. You don't sound like Buff. He's way more unique than you might think. : P

2. Do you remember the Contest theme suggestions topic for SM63?
Most of the mentioned things won't ever occur in an official LDC. But doing algorythm problem solving as a mini LDC, I'd probably join it. It's always depending wether a mentioned option is useful for the normal LDC's the smaller versions or simply never because it's just too specific and might only appear in a random portal level.

3. I wouldn't always go for simple themes. As for the beginning it had be a good choice to do so. But always simple will get boring. Trust me there.

4. As theme Shadow and Light, aka no use of colours. Except the bg, and some of the interactive items you are not able to change the colour of right now and shouldn't be anyway. tbh

Triggers are the best thing in LL, I have no problem with LDCs just for triggers.
You could always set a limit for the amount of triggers, like 150 or something to influence longer levels.

I don't think that will occur in a normal LLLDC as mentioned above. Maybe in a mini one if one would do those inofficial. Or you simply grab the LL editor and start doing something for the portal. : P

I'm sometimes thinking if it had be a good idea if one would start a mini LLLDC while the SM63 one is going on right now. Probably not.....

1-Oh, I was reffering on how he was always picking on the storytelling and such. I do think it is unique. I am just saying it in the way that he always went againts the idea in many ways and defended it.
2-I never mentioned which kind of stuff should not be said, I was just telling my opinions on what I would not think should make it to an LDC. A mini LDC? Oh sure, no probs. I am afraid that Algorithms solving is not my type of level, but well, anything goes I guess. My point there was mainly on the first LDCs where we really want people to partipicate and activate the game. Or at least that is what the retarded me thinks.
3-Well, I agree to a point. Going simple all the time is boring, no doubt about that, but sometimes being simple in terms of expirience is better. What I mean is that you can chose for example Dreams, Story, Doomsday, etc. Those are not simple themes. But you do not need a large amount of expirience to make it. I mean, sure you need more to make those more than a Jungle, but it is still doable for newcommers. Now, something that requires a big amount of triggers and mathematicals equations is quite different. It requires time to get used to and such. Again, I like "Game Tribute" because I can see a great trigerless level being made with that theme, even if it is not precisely "simple" as a theme. Sorry if I did not made myself clear.
4- I like it, though I would like more freedom there. It is a bit too restrictive to me from an artistic point of view, but still sounds like a very cool idea (how about something more like "Contrast"?).

Can I just point out how awesome I think the time travel idea is?
I really hope it's an LDC someday.

EDIT: foreshadowing

Just something with colour restrictions. Haven't been thinking that much about it. Mainly wanted to say something useful ontopic.

Don't you feel the amount of possibilities given to us in LL? As far as I've seen the best results always came for the more complicate themes. I'd also like to avoid doing mainly themes we could also do in SM63. If I would want do to something simple that's like the best place where you could do that.
I'm simply missing all the unique themes I've participated in the past and would love to see a few of them appearing here again. I've always had the most fun in the most difficult themes. They force you to think before you blindly start designing.

Well, maybe I just have a different idea on LL. I want most people possible to enjoy it plainly. And a complex theme would be fun, no doubt. A boss theme (surprisingly never suggested yet) would be cool. Anyone can make it, really. It requires very simple use of triggers. Still, if you want to make something really complicated you totally can. You can make an incredibly complex boss. And that is awesome. I can bet a lot of people would like it, it would require lots of planning and it would be a load of fun in terms of opportunities. But why should all people do that? I mean, I know this is a contest, but I like contests to be opened all the time.

I enjoy more making simple levels: in LL and in SM63 as well. Maybe that is why I fail epicly at both, but here is enjoy planning and thinking before, I enjoy planning and thinking at the moment. I explore the possibilities while I am on the designer. That is what I enjoy. Other people may enjoy differently, but to me it is like that. What I mean is: if we offer a theme that does not require big ammounts of triggers, we can please people like me who do not want to make loads of planning and also people like you, since not because it is not specifically asked it means it cannot be done. A contrast theme is indeed unique and it does not require high usage of triggers, at least not to me. I am sure you can create something awesome using many triggers. It pleases both sides, so I can't see why it should not be used. And that is why I also think that "no triggers" is not a great theme for an LDC (maybe for a mini), because it is restricting a lot of people that enjoy doing that.

Well, my two pennies. There is a lot of personal opinion, but I say that the more open, the better.
