The whole reason we posted this topic was so it wasn't the same three people organizing everything. In my opinion, that's selfish, too. Hell, you claimed a billion topics and managed them by yourself until MP3 came along. Isn't that selfish too?

You have no idea how many times as a level mod I wondered why we had no say in WITBLO, why we couldn't announce LDCs on three front page, etc.

Having a giant RV encompassing the whole 4 years is biased towards the veterans. That's why we restricted it to people that did things in the past 6 months.

The problem with RV is that there isn't enough people to vote, and there isn't enough people to vote for. Cool, 4 people votes someone best writer, woo. Cool, their are only two writers anyway, woo. RV is stale.

I was thinking of others while I said I wanted runouw votes cancelled. I don't see people super ecstatic for Runouw Votes as much as they are for LDCs and such. I didn't think people would mind if it was cancelled all together. Not to mention what I said was just my honest opinion. MP3 just straight out said that Runouw Votes isn't being cancelled.

Okay, so that's good to know. The way I was doing things in my term WASN'T the way we were supposed to do them. I just did them because no one else thought to/put the effort into it. And for your information, I posted many times through WITBLOs that people can/should/please recommend and bring forth levels to WITBLO of that year. Most of the initial WITBLO entrants were what people thought were their best levels. Yet, of the recent years, I was usually the only ones to bring forth levels. This last year, despite open casting call, only Amp recommended a level that I did not. You can blame staff all you want for hogging the ceremonies, but unless you want to take the initiative to run 15 different events/topics/archives/timelines, or even just one, then I don't see how staff is the only one to blame here.

If you want change, ♥♥♥♥ work for it, don't just sit around complaining. Amp and I made things happen because we were willing to work long hours into putting them together. If you want more power, take the work that goes with it.

What do you mean? I'm not saying you haven't been doing things. In fact, I'm glad you are. Have I not been on your side as opposed to the moderators with the new limits being proposed? I just won't take your ♥♥♥♥ on the staff for hogging everything beforehand when they have given you opportunities to participate while completely ignoring the hundreds of hours it takes to put all that we do together and have it running. We don't pick all the nominees of RV. You vote for them and nominate them.

I'm not talking about RV specifically, I'm talking about the userbase in general, and their inability to affect the mods' viewpoints on issues. Really, our only option is to pester the mods because we don't have any power or prestige to support what we want. It's pathetic.

However, that is for another subject entirely. I'd rather not clog up this page with argument based around that. If you wanna take it up with me some other time, feel free.

Concerning the RV, I feel that (for now) it should be kept the way it is, and any adjustments should be saved until the winter votes. I hate to call out a global moderator, but amp, you really started this debate way too late.

Err, MoD, I know you're well-respected and all, but really? Have you not been User Representative and/or Moderator for long before demoting yourself that you think that work solves everything here? I think not. I've seen so many good ideas been thrown away, tabled, or even been announced it WILL happen just from the userbase, and the staff won't do a single thing. A lack of motivation from higher power to actually come up with a product will destroy what work was done to contribute. I've exactly seen this happen more times than I can count in Runouw alone, and that is what kills the site. Sure, people like to stick with what origins there are, but what is being done to improve the user experience? Here, let me bring to attention a few issues that have been addressed by the userbase and the moderators don't do a thing about:

The Bugs/Suggestions forum. Many bugs/glitches/site issues have been addressed and yet there is no change or moderator input (namely from Suyo and Runouw) on the status of aforementioned issues. The suggestions forum contains ideas on what people want, but nothing is never done with them, and no official approval/rejection is given by GMod/Admin.

Forum Cleanup. This was posted by Buff, if I recall correctly, months ago. There has been nothing to follow-up on the proposal and it seemed to me that people were all for it.

A better means of letting the normal user have an actual voice/apply for moderator/whatever. Where's the work if there aren't willing/motivated users? Revamping this site to attract both new and veteran users is an arduous but possible task, and what moderators are in power are apparently not stepping in. From what I hear as well, a certain User Representative is letting their opinion be known and their pretty much being ignored entirely.

There are several smaller issues, but I'd imagine you get the point. We users, no matter how much we screw around, can't do jack ♥♥♥♥ with just words when the rest of the staff can't/won't follow up. If real life is a concern for you, then you shouldn't necessarily be on staff in the first place. It is a privilege and a responsibility to serve the user as best as you can. This is why we nominate other people/have a place to apply for moderatorship somewhere in order to get stuff done in place of the other person, not because it's a different colored placard that denotes absolutely nothing except that you have the power to swing the banhammer.

Being tasked with running a RP, I know what it's like to run a site. It's extremely hard to please everyone and to push updates often, especially when real life issues pop up for me and my partner a lot. MoD, I know you mean well, but stop and think about how this site runs. On my very first night on Runouw, I posted a huge ♥♥♥ list of all the issues I had with the site, and nothing was done about them, even though Suyo posted. I did work to find all of them (until 3 in the morning, might I add?), so you say I must do more work? What might it be? Do I have to rewrite the entire mainframe of Runouw to fix everything when I have no say in what goes on or happens, if anything does? Please, tell me, as an ex-moderator/staff member, what did you do, in terms of work, that made the site better and it wasn't just banning bot/deleting posts/moderating user behavior?

I've a nasty habit for ranting like this, but I felt like you were slightly misguided in what you said, so I apologize if I said anything out of line that I shouldn't have. My opinion is usually disregarded and quite often reprimanded on other sites, and I'd assume you would all be proper adults and take this as constructive criticism than just trying to 'cause drama', as I'm labelled so many times.

Also, for Runouw Votes, it's also very biased, from what I can tell. People will be silly and vote for more than one person or may nominate themselves. Let's face it, it's going to happen, and people are going to consistently get nominated/voted for the same awards no matter what. I personally think that they shouldn't exist anymore, but since that would cause a very catastrophic uprising against me, I suggest a one-person-per-vote and you may only nominate that person once. While it's not foolproof, it'll bring some variety to the nominees.

Hmm.

Well, I apologize for my outbursts. I often have a habit of getting carried away by emotion.

I admit that I am used to working alone. As for what I as MessengerOfDreams have done other than the basics to make the site this better place as a moderator, well, mostly creating or maintaining about ten to fifteen famous, well used resources and topics, RV and LDCs included. And I don't know what it is, may it be my autism or being the only one who actually cares enough to post twenty different polls and topics about Level Designing and the like, but I usually rely on what I can do. I try and involve people when I can, but I usually find that people don't match my insane, creepy amount of motivation to things that, in the long run, don't matter all that much. If I didn't do a good enough job at that, I apologize. I, of all people, know what it's like for people not to be satisfied with your work (to the point of starting secret societies to get my head cut off), so I always try and do a satisfactory job for others. Of course, I usually pre-determine what I think others want and not so much communicating in person.

(plus bug fixes and mainframe implementations have never been my gig.)

Sorry that I contributed to the state that the site is in right now.

That's fine, were all somewhat at fault for not noticing earlier, not being persistent, or not wording things correctly. I believe that as a whole, we're too indecisive.
