But really, this thread ♥♥♥♥ exploded today apparently, what's the issue now? Are we still hung up over who has more imaginary internet medals? Trying to stay on topic, issues with mods (or anyone in a position of power really) are best brought up in a private PM to them rather than in front of an entire forum full of emotionally charged users. That's how the real issues start and frankly if we want to do RV at all it might be best if we avoid tearing each others' heads off.
That being said, clearly the system needs some work, and general consensus seems to be that there will be a discussion in the following weeks concerning what should be done to fix it. I was under the impression that it was supposed to be a fun little thing for our community but a few members hold strong opinions against it, so I would suggest you guys take this chance and run with it- what do you guys specifically see wrong with the current method, and what are your proposed solutions? The spotlight's already shining, it would be a shame to waste it and have no good come of this situation.
With that in mind, maybe what we need is LESS categories. Best Level Designer, Best Artist (this would include both art and writing), Funniest Member, Most Influential, and so on. We would eliminate awards like Best Quote (or just not award anything for it) and Most Notable Friendship. Medals would no longer be something one person could win seven of, they would actually have some measure of prestige awarded to a select five or six individuals- note that the vast majority would not win anything, hopefully avoiding the animosity that has grown over the last few years as a result of the vast majority winning a lot, with a select five or six individuals leaving with nothing.
So, what did we learn today? That calling anyone out in front of a large group of people only causes negative feelings, it's much better to tackle the issue one on one or with a SMALL group. That having a differing opinion from the majority isn't easy, and a bit of willingness to see things from other perspectives can go a long way toward understanding each other. And finally, that although sometimes the bad stuff happens anyway, it's what you learn from the experience that counts. We've got a chance to change Runouw Votes for the better, so we should put all the hard feelings away and make the most of it.

Just wondering if it could be better if examples were given with some sort of reasoning? Clarification is always good.
Also self nominating. If you feel as though you do deserve the award then you should be able to nominate yourself. We have had some people moaning in the past about not being nominated for something they thought they should and hopefully this would clear this up.

Geez you guys; I thought I was supposed to be the psycho crying for blood at any given moment. Seriously people, the topic shifted from Runouw Votes to the lack of voice in the users. We've already made a topic for that. If you're going to cry for bloodshed, do it somewhere else, please.
Oh well, that's what I get for appearing, randomly vanishing, not ever viewing the chat (I lost my password), and in general not bothering with anything on this site that doesn't inherently interest me. Or maybe it's not my fault, I dunno.
To get back on topic: let me get this straight, earlier people were complaining about self-nominations, and now you're saying it's a good thing in case you think you deserve it? I'm not saying it's the same people, but I felt like pointing that out. While self-nominations are easy to view as selfish, I'll agree with it. If you honestly think you deserve an award for something, nominate yourself. I mean, if you actually deserve it, where's the harm?
I still have no idea how many medals are being given out. Although, I do see reason in WickedOreo's idea of a user only being able to nominate any other user or himself/herself once. I'm not sure how well it would work out, but might as well try something right? From the sounds of it though, medals are practically being handed out like candy with 12 or more medals each votes list. Maybe there's a justified reason for that, I don't know. But I think I'll agree with Oreo for now. Besides, it would make self-nominations more... interesting to think about or something.

Seriously people, if we keep this going this topic will derail and become a prime example of how easily we stab each other in the backs when we start to disagree with each other, if it isn't already.
Here's a spark of genius: Make a poll. Write it with all the blood you're crying at the moment if you have to. We currently have a group that wants to terminate, some that want it to continue, some that want to alter the way it works. Make it so that the users can choose multiple options on how to alter this thing. That way, instead of having massive walls of text all the time and people screaming for each others' heads, we can just anonymously vote on what we want, and be civil about it, because we'd have no freakin' clue who voted for what. Or at the least, the only people that could see who voted for what has significant power in this site, and presumably won't abuse it. If we need to restart the poll as more ideas come in, so be it. I don't see harm in voting about what to do with an event that's about voting in the first place. At least this way we won't be sweating blood, bullets and fire out of every existing orifice on our bodies at any given moment. Geez.
I don't know if not caring about this event one way or another is selfish. At this point, I don't care. All I see right now is a war of emotions with the blood spilled being that of destructive emotional states we're putting each other in. You're practically in a civil war. End this NOW.
Should you follow my idea, the poll options would contain the following:

Multiple polls. first one is whether or not we even want Runouw Votes to stay or not.
