Super Mario 63: Runouw's Level Designer

Thumbs up x1

I noticed the differences between Super Mario 63's Level Designer and Last Legacy's Level Designer. You all already know the following.

Super Mario 63 has limited Level Designing Options that Last Legacy. However, the levels in Super Mario 63 have more sprites (such as Rainbow Ride See-Saw) and Tiles (Red Block).

If Super Mario 63's Level Designer gets more updates, it may be too big in size. And almost nobody plays the Storyline.

Runouw has more features in making the story line levels, so why not?

There would be the level designer Runouw used, the in-game Level Designer compatibility, portal, and of course, level testing with Mario.

Is this a good idea?

I get the feeling that this belongs in the SM63 LD forums.

Runouw coded the original game in flash before making the LD. As far as I know, he did not use a level designer/editor to actually make the game. If you can learn flash, then you have all you need to make SM63 levels similar to the story mode. However, they will most likely be incompatible with the game's actual level designer.

Very interesting.... Cause it shows some evidence that Runouw takes a screenshot of him doing a level in a Last Legacy level.

Interesting he actually uses flash. (um.. any mods around here?)

If you're talking about Last Legacy, then yes, he's making the level editor/designer for LL first, then making the actual game using that. However, SM63's story was originally coded in flash before the LD was made, which is why the SM63 LD doesn't have as many features as the actual story mode.

Protip: The Binding of Isaac and VVVVVV are both Flash-based games, and look how well they turned out. A lot more is capable in Flash than people may believe, so I'm sure Runouw will do a top-notch job with LL to make up for what you feel was missing.

And yes, it's most likely a lot of the SM63 story features are hardcoded.

SM63 was origibally made in flash, and the LD was added after. I remwmber playing the versio that had mouse control similar to the Wii and it lacked an LD whatsoever.

Same goes for LD. Runouw made both the LD and game, but released the LD so we could betatest while he worked on the main story. Thats why you see a major graphic overhaul in the past and present. He actually had both, we just dont get the main game yet.

Ol Robby knows we need designers to be happy while we wait. Hes a kindly ol college pal of ours.
