Question about Old Levels

Postby Konradix » August 8th, 2013, 10:34 am

So I found some of my old levels and decided to re-work them, edit some stuff and maybe re-post them here. Apparently the saving format changed. The tiles in the levels stayed the same as far as I know, but the problem is all the items disappeared. Once I save the level again using the new saving format, all the items disappear from the code. Question is: is there any way I can save the items from disappearing. I imagine this was done a long time ago, but I need to know if there's anything to be done with this.

Thats strange. In my old levels before the SM63 update, the items didn't disappear. Try checking out of bounds. Or the code. Read the X and y. Where are the locations?

Hmm that's weird... It seems that my level became corrupted. When I tested the level, it was named "undefined" and had no background. Though that might be caused by the size of that level (it's pretty big and laggy). Wait nevermind... I just tried my other, smaller level the same thing happened: corrupted level, though some of the items actually stayed there. This only happens if I save the code, copy it and load it. If I load the original code, everything is ok. You can check the code out if you want here:

After the code is loaded, I usually search for messages on signs to see if they're in the code, but the text disappears for me, so the sign must've disappeared :/

Postby blue » August 8th, 2013, 2:49 pm

You can either collect all 64 Star Coins in the game, or you could always type "cheat" on the screen after the title screen, the one where you either select Story Mode, the Level Designer, or the Options.

Ok, it seems that you HAVE to press "Copy Code" button, in order to copy the items. I just selected the code that was in the box instead of clicking. Anyway, that worked thanks for help ;)

Yeah, but sometimes it doesn't work. You have to continuously press the "ON" button in both green squares until it stays "ON" when you exit the Cheat menu.

When I clicked "Unlock everything", nothing in LD was unlocked (Even though it stayed "ON"), so I just toggled every Star Coin "ON" to unlock all the tiles.

I think 'Unlock Everything" means unlocking all doors and levels in the game. You need to toggle the Star Coin one to unlock the tiles in the LD.
