And with a semi-promised edit, here's a review to your level, Snowy Land World Puzzle Edition!
First thing right before I even play the level... really confusing name. Please take out "World" or "Land", either of the two... the name sounds cluttered and doesn't draw me into playing the level. People eat with their eyes, no?
Now, onto the level... I'm mostly going to point out big and little details that I liked/disliked.
Good Aspects
+ I will say that my first impression was not exactly high hopes... until I noticed how much detail you put into the level. Unlike many developers I have seen, you actually use up a good measure of your level space as much as possible! I love that in LDers, it shows they actually want to create a great level than just a simple run to the shine platformer. (+2)
+ Very big variety of enemies and items used. Well done. (+1)
+ Platforming was nicely designed in the appropriate areas. (+1)
+ Balanced size horizontally and vertically, mostly... be careful that you don't make the level too big, or else the player gets lost. (+0.5)
+ Multiple shines, greater gameplay, I like it. (+0.5)
+ Strangely enough, you managed to include FLUDDs without the level becoming overly easy... teach me your methods! (+0.5)
Bad Aspects
- Please, please, please, please, PLEASE... while it is nice you used great detail, it is the worst nooby mistake to spam items everywhere... cut down on the unnecessary signs and arrows. Part of the reason is because it looks gaudy, but the other half is because it causes lag. 9 out of 10 doctors recommend managing your items so the level can run well. (-2)
- Test your levels a bit more, I found a few glitches here and there, one of them in the thwomp room after the door near the beginning... one thwomp just decided not to go up. (-1)
- I don't quite understand what gave you the great idea to put lava in an Ice-themed level... (-0.5)
- While this is minor, I do think you should make the level more puzzle-based than platformer base... there are some puzzle elements, but a lot of those elements are basic, and don't really stand out. (-0.5)
- After looking at the level in the Level Designer, I noticed a few stray shines that serve no purpose... some of them make light, others are completely useless. (-0.5)
11/20 --> 2.75/5. From looking at your post count I think you're a bit new, so don't feel discouraged. Just keep practicing, take into account what others say. Whether or not you improve this level is up to you (although it's recommended).
