The Fire Field

Built in the middle of a sea of lava and fire, this field used to be one of the Shy Guy Army's special (and secret) training facilities, created specifically to test their skills to the limit. Those who passed this trial, were worthy of being soldiers of elite. However, no volunteer managed to clear this course of burning death. Before anything could be known, this facility was closed and abandoned.

In such a place, a Shine Sprite has appeared...

This is my entry for the Second 25squared LDC, which placed 7th. Still mighty respectable. KABOOM refered to it as "Fast, fiery fun". That's a pretty good description :3

Complete these tasks for an instant ego boost.

Burning Heart ~ Complete the level for the first time.
Through the Fire and Flames ~ Beat the level without ever taking damage.
Cry For Their Blood ~ Collect the 6 Red Coins.
Fires of Greed ~ Collect 13 Yellow Coins. (Red coins count for two, so you substract two coins in the counter for each red coin you have)
Safe Haven ~ ????

Fires of Greed seems to be the hardest achievement to get... But I think it's possible. If you manage to get it, please let me know.

Gotta say, compared to my level, the platforming in this one is very well designed. Gives a challenge. In terms of graphics, nothing special. Music fits grat though. 4/5

You know what? ♥♥♥♥ Fires of Greed. I spent a ♥♥♥♥ hour trying to beat that ♥♥♥♥ achievment to either have an enemy ♥♥♥♥ suicide or fail after few seconds.

How can you have either the shyguy or the bob-omb not suicide? I either go through the 1st section too slow and a shyguy just suicides, or when you get FLUDD the bob-omb just disappears, or when I clear everything the shyguys near the end commit suicide. And this is why I should not be a completionist >.>

That's bad luck sometimes... :/ I think there's something in the Shy Guys' behavior that makes them wander off in random directions and sometimes kill themselves... In my plays, the only Shy Guy who sometimes kills himself is one near the end. However, I've managed to get through and actually defeat him.

I played now, and I managed to get almost everyone's coin, except for one near the end which... well... glitched its way into a wall, and the final flying Shy Guy, which I can't get without dying. That one Shy Guy is pretty much the only reason I thought this was impossible...

If this proves impossible to beat, I might modify the level a bit to make it possible.

And Harmless, yeah, I might give an achievement for beating all of them at once. Sounds neat :3

Edit: I just noticed... Yeah, that one Bob-omb in the last section, it's quite likely that it will suicide before you reach it... maybe I should change it for a Shy Guy or something...

I managed to kill that last flying Shy Guy and get the coin, I figured out a way to deal with it. However it requires either being too damn precise, or getting there with full health.

You just have to charge into it when he's closest to the edge you stand on, and then try to get the coin and return to where you were standing, you should have enough FLUDD for that if you got the coin quick enough. Otherwise, just bounce on the lava once if you have a lot of health.

Something else I did was going for the red coin, then going left and hit the Shy Guy, then grab the coin and keep going to the pipe. You need to time it really well to clear the flame tower, though...

I think that second Bob-omb is gonna go, though.

YES! The coin glitching in the wall was annoying too. That first bob-omb can not give you a coin too, but that's relatively near the start so I'm not as frustrated on that one.
Also Harmless, that is literally the story of my life. Shy people suiciding when I want to beat the ♥♥♥♥ out of them and steal their money >.>
