tl;dr MCMMO adds an RPG-like XP system that gives cool abilities like a few seconds of faster mining, higher damage output, chance of blocking arrows, ability to create moss stone at will, and other such things.

It applies levels to each skill, from the obvious like fighting and mining, to the more obscure, like bare-fist fighting and repair. If you harvest a crop, your herbalism EXP increases. If you take enough fall damage, your acrobatics EXP increases. Also it allows you to repair things with iron and gold blocks. You can get bonuses for higher levels, like double-drops in mining and rolling to prevent damage in acrobatics.

Yes. It's not the EXP you get from mobs and smelting and stuff. It's just to show when you reach the next level and how far you are already.

Basically.
Also, just an update: The map is probably about 20% done. Most of the terrain is finished, but biomes need to be set and forests grown. Then, even after all that, it's very probable that a small team will have to go on ahead to worldedit a bit. Worldpainter doesn't make overhangs, so elevation drops are sheer. There's a sequoia forest that needs custom trees. Some of the wonders will need to be finetuned, or even built manually.
Spring break is coming for me soon (two weeks) so I'll probably get at least progress done.

Protip: Unless you have the desire to dig into the code of Blingcombat, be aware that it shut our server down and disallowed ping. It's unstable and unplayable.

Only Shad and I were on at that moment.
He asked me if it was cool to do a quick restart for BlingCombat, and I didn't have a problem with that. I was only expecting to wait about 20 seconds or so. It took about 2 minutes.
As soon as I logged back on he told me it broke the server.
