Oh, no, no, no. I wasn't actually agreeing with the article that it could kill Minecraft. I play Minecraft, and I know exactly how impossible killing it is. My point is that the media is making something of the fact that level design is actually a big thing out there, to the point that some people think it MIGHT be big enough.
We are a tight community, off on our own here, and a bit isolated from everything else going on out there. We think level designing is big, but we also know that we are small, and thus we think it might be small too. Apparently, we are the tip of an iceberg. I would love to see if there are any larger level designing communities out there that we could connect with (and not just the communities around the other cease-and-desisted fan games), that could promote the hobby in general. I would hope that Nintendo is smart enough to add external saves for the levels so that they can be shared on the internet in general, and that can give sites like us an opportunity to contribute to their pool of levels. That could be huge, and not just for us. We know we have a bunch of great designers, and we are all working on helping each other and bettering ourselves. We could actually be a big part of the success of that game, if they let us. I see lots of great fun and great potential. this could be a huge step for all of us. Plus, if we do start getting some fame for our contribution to the global Mario level design community, we could be part of the traffic generators for Last Legacy, and help Runouw out!
I'm exited as heck about this, and I hope you all can see the possibilities too.
