Chapter 1 Walkthrough

Walkthrough for 5/31/2014 Null Space release candidate 2. Also posted on the Last Legacy forums.

First Dimension: X

Once you've landed, head to the right. On the next screen there will be some crabs, defeat them by sliding into them (hold S and click the mouse). After dispatching them, continue onward and you'll find a chest which contains a Basic Scimitar. On a platform to the right is a mean-looking red mage, he can shoot fireballs and teleport around. Equip your newly acquired weapon and use it to take care of him to open the path forward, but don't get too hasty now! Just past and above where the red mage was is a path upward, leading to a Large Square. There are three of these hidden in each level, and they're worth 100 Squares. On the final screen, watch out! The bridge appears and disappears and you'll fall through it if you're not careful. The second Large Square is just past the bridge and on the path up to the exit wormhole is a chest that has a Wooden Staff. If you want to grab the third and final Large Square of this level, jump to the platform left of the wormhole and follow the platforms up and to the right. Jump into the wormhole to end the level. After beating this level, you will unlock the Shop.

HARD MODE

This level really isn't that different in Hard Mode, except there's more enemies, more pits, and some slight layout changes. Large Squares are in the same places.

Second Dimension: Y

Right off the bat you'll notice a box with a blue orb inside it. This is a Delta Orb. While near these, you can morph the terrain around you! You can create new blocks and destroy existing ones. However, you can only have 3 blocks morphed at a time. Use delta to create a blocks to continue onward and upward. When you get to the third Delta Orb, you may try and remove the black wall in front of you, however this is not possible. You'll need to go through the grass and dirt blocks below you. Just above your view is the first Large Square if you want to grab it before you continue on. On the next screen you'll be met by a platform with red and green buttons. Stand on the red button to move the platform left and stand on the green one to move it right. The second Large Square is below, use the Delta Orb attached to the platform to get to it. To the right of the Large Square is a chest which contains a Horn. Moving on, the final Large Square is right underneath the next checkpoint. Grab it if you wish, but watch out for the red mage on the rotating cloud platform near it. In the next area you'll be introduced to red Negate Orbs, which prevent Delta from being used. Thankfully though, Negate Orbs have a smaller radius than normal Delta Orbs do. Above the Negate Orb is a chest that contains a Silver Ring. Use that to your advantage to press onward to another platform with red and green buttons. Move it as far to the right as possible and you'll be able to create yourself a path up to the wormhole.

HARD MODE

There's an extra pit at the beginning, as well as darkness cannons. When you get to the third Delta Orb, you'll have to drop through and land on a lower platform, then to get back up you'll have to jump and create a block in mid-air (yes, you can do that). The first Large Square is hanging over the void below. This next room is functionally no different from it's normal counterpart, except there's a few more ghosts and also darkness cannons. The second Large Square is in the same spot as normal. The final Large Square however takes a bit more work to get. You have to make a Delta block and then slowly and carefully Delta your way through to the other side and then repeat to get out. Just remember that you can only have 3 blocks morphed at any one time. The final room has an extra pit that you have to make yourself a platform for, but otherwise it's pretty much the same, save for a few more enemies.

Third Dimension: Z

See that glowing yellow platform with the arrow? It extends your jump height. Stand on it and jump, you'll rocket upward. The Large Square is high above the transition to the next area, use the yellow jump platforms to reach it. Don't be afraid of the blue glowing platform on the next screen, it's basically a more powerful jump platform. The second Large Square is right in plain sight, hard to miss really. Drop down and you'll run into a blue mage. They're pretty similar to the red ones, except they have more HP and they shoot freeze spells at you instead of fireballs. In the next area will be a bunch of yellow and blue jump platforms, as well as the final Large Square and the wormhole. After beating this level, you'll unlock the Upgrader.

HARD MODE

The first area is not that different, just have a few more enemies and some spikes. The first Large Square is moved from high up in the air to hanging over the void, but it's easy to see. The second Large Square is higher up in the air instead of being in the middle of the circle platform. In the final area, the platforms move a bit faster and the final Large Square is slightly relocated.

Fourth Dimension: Time

In this level you'll be introduced to the mushroom enemies and levers. They're fairly self-explanatory. The first Large Square is below the first lever, drop down and ride the platform back up. In the next area, the green blocks will slide down their chain when you step on them. Continue right and flip the lever to lower a block. On top of this block is a new enemy, a blue knight. He shouldn't be too hard, either get up in his face and mash the mouse button or stay back and pick him off with a ranged attack. The next Large Square is just under the pathway en route to the next area, be careful not to stand on the green block or you'll block yourself from getting it. In this final area is a bit of a lever puzzle. Flip the lever and jump up to the cloud platforms, then drop the green block. Flip the lever again and drop the next two green blocks. Flip the lever once more, drop another green block, and grab the final Large Square if you wish. Flip the level one final time to open the way to the wormhole.

HARD MODE

Just a few more enemies, nothing too substantial. The first Large Square is a bit more difficult to get, and you have to do some handhold platforming to get back up instead of riding a platform. The next room is more different though, particularly the second Large Square; it's right below the entrance. The final Large Square has also moved, it's right before the transition to the final area. Use the handholds to climb up and reach it. The final area itself is fairly unchanged, just stronger enemies and more pits. The block puzzle is SLIGHTLY different, but pretty much still the same.

Fifth Dimension: Space

Ooh, spooky cave area. The platforms in front of you will tip with your weight, so be careful. Make your way to the brown platform and then ride it around the area, then snag the first Large Square. In the next room you'll encounter an orange mage, pretty much no different from the others except he uses lightning attacks. Use Delta to go down through the floor and collect the second Large Square. Continue onward. Two rooms further, you'll see the final Large Square. Use Delta to go through the room, climb to the top, and then drop down to get it. One more room in is the wormhole. You'll need to take another ride on a brown platform, only this time you'll need to use Delta to open up a wall in your way. After completing this level, the Shop will have new items.

HARD MODE

The first room has some slight layout changes and more enemies. The Large Squares have been moved around, the first one is now buried under the floor like the second one is in normal but it's been moved slightly and now also as spikes under it. The third Large Square is now the second, but the room itself is pretty much the same. The final room still has the platform ride, it's still there and basically identical to its normal counterpart. The final Large Square is hovering over the void just under the small circle the ride takes.

Sixth Dimension: Electromagnetism

Hooray for desert level! There are some orange mages and green ghosts in your way, but they shouldn't be a problem for you. Right past them are two platforms that are toggled on and off by striking the lightbulb with a sword. You do have a sword, don't you? Attack the lightbulb and ride the left platform up to access a chest with Handcuffs. To the left of the chest is the first Large Square. In the next area you'll have to Delta through some sand to reach another lightbulb. Thankfully this sand isn't subject to gravity like in Minecraft or Terraria. Attack the bulb and when the two platforms above line up to give you a path through, hit it again. Right past these two platforms is a fan-like obstacle, climb high above it to reach the second Large Square. Next up you'll see a green knight, this one is a bit tougher but not too much. Best bet is to use ranged attacks, though. Use Delta to go through the wall to the right and climb up, then drop down to reach the final segment. In here are some more lightbulbs that not only toggle platforms but also conveyor belts and some even activate Delta Orbs! The final Large Square is on the right of this area.

HARD MODE

There are a few pits added to the beginning of the level, as well as a couple green mages. The first Large Square has been moved however, and you can't access it from this first section. To get to it, head into the second area and go up onto the higher platforms. Battle two green mages and claim your prize. Be very careful though, if you grab an edge over the spikes you will take lots of damage. Beware the second area, there is a demon that shoots at you and he WILL knock you into the pit if you're not careful (source: much rage from me dying because of that). Fortunately you can deflect his shots back at him if you attack them, so use that and ranged attacks to defeat him. There's another one past the fan, there's a lot of enemies around so be very cautious. In the next area is a dark red knight, he is faster than the other knights thus far so watch out. The second Large Square is in this area, go up at the start and hit the lightbulb to disable the Negate Orb so you can access it. The final area is not changed much aside from stronger enemies. The last Large Square requires lots of speed, and it's unlikely you will have the equipment necessary at this point, so you'll have to replay the level at a later time when you have the required gear. It sucks, I know, but them's the breaks. If you can find enough equipment to increase your speed to at least 14, you should be able to make it through.

Seventh Dimension: Gravity

Right off the bat is a green knight, but he's not really any different from the others. Just past him is a green mage which will throw rings of thorns that bounce around. Head to the right and you'll see a platform with blue and pink buttons. Blue goes down, pink goes up. Lower the platform as much as possible and then backtrack to the previous room. Jump across the rotating platforms and when you land on the ledge the platform will take you up. To the left is the first Large Square. There are platforms just ahead; when you step on them, they will slide up a bit and then disappear for a second before returning to their original position. The second Large Square seems impossible to reach, but if you'll look really closely on the right side you can see a small ledge. Jump onto it and you'll find a hidden path that you can use to access the Large Square. Right past that is an area with a green tint in the background; once you enter it, gravity will twist 270 degrees. Get used to gravity switching, it will happen a lot. Run to the bottom and gravity will return to normal. Jump up the other side and run up the wall. Use the ledges to your left to climb up and gain access to the final Large Square in the final room. Drop down and pay attention to the tint of the background, each color represents a different gravity. There are enemies and objects to help you judge the gravity if things get too confusing.

HARD MODE

In place of the green knight is a dark red knight and another demon. You'll have to defeat them to progress. Keep heading to the right to find a Large Square (it's the first one you find, yet it's counted as the second one for who knows what reason). It's likely you'll hit the spikes when going to get it, so make use of the hearts here. Back in the first section, there are Shadow Creatures here which will dispel your Delta platforms if they make contact with them. Ride the fourth platform up to get to the next Large Square. The second section is pretty much identical. To get the final Large Square, as soon as you touch the first gravity section, run up the wall instead of down. In the final section are cannons, stay clear of their shots.

Eighth Dimension: Ice

Oh great, an ice level. The first Large Square is right on your way forward in the middle of a rotating ice block. At the end of this room you'll need to defeat all the enemies to open the path forward. In the next area is a bit of a puzzle involving moving blocks and everyone's favorite mechanic: ice physics! The second Large Square is also right in your path, between two ice platforms that rotate around it. Is it just me or does the designer have a thing for math? The first Large Square had a caret and now this one has an equals sign... Whatever, just press onward. The next room is even more fun than the last, ice physics combined with gravity changes. This time instead of tinted backgrounds there's a dark purple background object where the gravity changes. It's dark and a little difficult to see, but it's there. At the bottom of the room is a chest that contains a Sapphire Scepter. Once you get to the end of the room, you'll find a switch. Press it and the gravity will flip 180 degrees. Backtrack through the room, grab the final Large Square, and make your way to the wormhole.

HARD MODE

At the start you'll have to climb a bunch of rotating ice platforms. The first Large Square is off to the left beyond some platforms that are spinning faster than the others. The rest of the room is pretty much identical. In the next area, the ice block puzzle is slightly more difficult, but not too much. The second Large Square is in the same spot. The final area has some spikes and the enemies are more difficult, but for the most part it's unchanged.

Ninth Dimension: Heat

Of course if you have an ice level, you gotta have a fire level. You'll also be introduced to a new enemy (unless you've been playing Hard Mode): Shadow Creatures, floating black figures with a big T on them. The first Large Square is up in the air, follow the platforms up and to the left, but watch for the red mages. You can dispel their fireballs if you slash them fortunately, so use that to your advantage. There's a lot of platforming over lava in this level, though thankfully it's not insta-kill, it just deals 2 damage instead of the normal 1. Anyway, in the next room jump across some platforms to reach a lever, which will make a block rise out of the lava. Use it to climb higher and run across more platforms over lava. The second Large Square is high above before you drop down, you'll need to make use of the handholds along the wall to reach it. In the next room you'll have to ride a ferris wheel-like platform across the lava while avoiding some Shadow Creatures to reach a lever, which causes another block to rise. In the next area, if you climb up and to the left you'll find a chest containing a Flame Sword. The final Large Square is hovering over lava just inside a circle-like structure that looks suspiciously familiar... Reused source material from Super Mario 63 aside, flip the levers and the wheel will start spinning, along with another platform that rises out of the lava.

HARD MODE

The first area hasn't changed much, aside from the first Large Square not being in it. In the second area, you'll have to use Delta to access the first Large Square. The second Large Square is in the middle of some rotating spikes near the end of the third area. The final Large Square is in plain sight at the beginning of the final area. Personally I think it's easier to collect than in normal mode since it's not underneath the wheel.

Tenth Dimension: Strength

Not much to this first area, just a tower in the middle of nowhere. The first Large Square is suspended in mid-air on the right side of this area, you'll need to be careful in grabbing it because there's nothing but void below it. Once you enter the tower, there will be a bunch of rooms where you'll be sealed in with a bunch of enemies. Defeat them all and the doors will open back up to let you progress. Really nothing special with them except you'll be introduced to new enemies: wolves and purple mages. The second Large Square is under the floor at the end of the second room, walk through the wall past the door and drop down into a hidden path. In the third room, once you clear all the enemies, a new one will appear. It flies around the room and shoots darkness at you, but you can deflect it back at him with a sword. Once you defeat him the door will open to the top of the tower, which contains the final Large Square, a chest with a Book of Battle, and the wormhole. After you complete this level, the shop will have new items.

HARD MODE

The first Large Square is higher in the air and a bit more difficult to reach. The second Large Square is hidden in the first room of the tower in the ceiling. The final Large Square is at the top of the tower, drop off the left side and use Delta to get back up. Aside from the Large Squares the level isn't any different aside from more difficult enemies.

Eleventh Dimension: Curiosity

Oooo, dark forest-y area. Enter the tower ahead and ride the platform to the top. Talk to the man there and he will reveal that he is the Enchanter, he can strengthen items further than the Upgrader can. Jump down past the Enchanter to collect the first Large Square and flip a lever that will open the way forward. In this room, use Delta to climb up and get to a lever, which will deactivate a Negate Orb. The second Large Square is near the top of this room, flip the lever to move a block over to reach it. After grabbing the Large Square, go outside and drop down to find another lever which will activate a couple of Delta Orbs. Climb up to the very top of the tower and flip another lever, which will grant you access to the next door. Final room, it's pretty big and seems very ominous. Make your way to the lightbulb on the lower-right corner and flip it to open a path higher up. Climb up and ride a platform up to access another lever that activates a Delta Orb. Go back down and use Delta to reach the other side. Ride the platform up and flip the lever to reach another platform which will go higher and grant you access to another lever, flip it to deactivate the Negate Orb. Backtrack and use Delta to reach the final Large Square, and then go up the middle and ride the platform to the top. Flip the final lever and a platform that will carry you up to the wormhole will appear. Go all the way back down to the lightbulb and strike it again to access the newly opened platform and then ride it up to the wormhole. After you complete this level, the Upgrader will become the Enchanter.

HARD MODE

To get to the first Large Square, you'll need equipment that increases your jump to at least 8. Climb over the top of the tower, drop off the right side, and Delta through the dirt to get to to it. Take out the dirt beneath the Large Square to access a chest that contains a Lightning Rod. The second Large Square is outside of the first room of the tower, climb to the top and drop down on the right. The puzzle in the final room is for the most part identical, save for an extra lever or two. If you want the final Large Square, make sure the lightbulb is on before you ride the platform up or you'll get stuck and have no way to get to it.

Twelfth Dimension: Exploration

In this level there are planet-like objects that have their own gravitational pull. The first Large Square is hovering in the area just above and past the first planet. In the second area, flip the lever on the ice planet to access another lever to open the path forward. In this section you'll need to use a lot of Delta to cross the chasm below, which will be very difficult for you if you're not quite used to the controls yet. There's a chest on a platform in the middle of the area with an Elf Sword, guarded by a red knight. The second Large Square is high in the air on the right side of the area, you'll need to Delta through the wall, jump up the ledges, and drop down onto it. In the final area you'll immediately be pulled into the gravity of the huge planet here. The final Large Square is below, surrounded by spinning spikes. Climb above the planet to a lever to open up the inner-most circle, and then go to the right side and flip the lever there to open the next, allowing you access to the wormhole.

HARD MODE

In the first area, instead of flipping levers, you'll have to defeat all the enemies to progress. The first Large Square is just beyond some spikes in the second section. In the third area, use Delta to reach the lever to move the block in your way. The second Large Square is on the floating platform guarded by the dark red knight. The final Large Square is in pretty much the same spot as normal mode.

Thirteenth Dimension: Intellect

Flip the lever to lower the wall in your way. The first Large Square is just above the transition to the next area. In the next area, the second Large Square is in the air, use the moving platforms to reach it. Climb up and drop down to access a set of levers, flip one to move the blocks to open the path. In the final area, there are a bunch of colored blocks and matching levers. It's basically just a puzzle of moving each block to open the path to the wormhole. The lever to open the Large Square is at the top of the area, just to the right of the wormhole.

HARD MODE

In the first area is a door. The first Large Square is inside that room. The second Large Square is in the second area, guarded by some turrets; use Delta to block the turret fire and climb up to it. The block puzzle in the final area is slightly changed and has a few more enemies, but mostly it's the same. The final Large Square is at the top-right of the area behind a red block.

Fourteenth Dimension: Power

What is this, a volcano? Anyway, the first Large Square is above a bunch of seesaw platforms right before the transition to the next area. Cross the sinking green blocks and then go across the platforms above to access a lever. Flip it and the lava will lower, opening a path to the next area. The second Large Square is high above on the right side, use the handholds to reach it. Flip the lever and the lava will start rising. The brown platforms will float in the lava, so stand on them when the lava catches up so you can reach higher. Exit the cave and you'll find the wormhole. The final Large Square is in the top-left corner of this area.

HARD MODE

The first Large Square is in the second section, between rotating spikes. In that same area, climb the handholds on the right wall and go across the platforms and you'll meet a wordless old man who will sell you the Masamune, the strongest sword in the game, for 3,000 Squares. The third area is quite a bit different from normal mode. Cross the platforms to the right and hit the lever to lower the lava. Use the handholds to climb up to the top-right of the area and flip the lever there to gain access to the second Large Square. Keep flipping levers to lower the lava. Flip the final lever at the bottom to activate a Delta Orb, allowing you access to the next area. Fight through the enemies to open the way forward. When you get close to the end of the area, a bunch of Shadow Creatures will spawn, so watch out. The final Large Square is hovering over lava just past them. In the final room, use Delta to cross the lava, but watch out for the turrets. You can deflect their shots back at them just like the purple mages and demons. Speaking of demons, three will spawn when get close to the turrets. Make your way to the top-right and flip the lever to lower the lava and open the way to the bottom right lever. Flip it to activate a Delta Orb which allows you to reach the exit.

Fifteenth Dimension: Dissonance

This is it, the final level for this version. The first Large Square is buried in the ground just past the first Delta Orb. The second Large Square is at the far right side of this area. Drop down into the pit to find the final Large Square and a door. Enter through and you'll see the wormhole. Already? There's something missing here, this is the final level, there's gotta be some kinda... BOSS! Walk to the right side and he will appear. There's really not much to this guy, he just uses a ton of magic and flies around, usually staying out of your reach. If you have a sword, use it to deflect his magic back at him and attack him when possible. A ranged attack is recommended, as he will likely be out of reach a lot. There's some hearts scattered around the arena if you get low on health. Once the boss goes down, the wormhole opens up. Congratulations! You've beaten Last Legacy Null Space release candidate 2!

HARD MODE

The first Large Square is hovering over the void in the darkness behind the start. The second Large Square is close to where the first was in normal mode. Climb the handholds on the right side and go up. After some platforming, you'll reach a chest containing Winged Boots, which are required to reach the first Large Square in Eleventh Dimension: Curiosity. Equip them and jump up to grab the final Large Square. The boss is more or less the same, except he has way more HP. Way more. This fight may have been a cakewalk in normal mode, but it's not so easy this time. My advice is to not move around too much unless you're dodging an attack. Stay in the middle of the arena and stick with magic attacks. I recommend equipping gear that increases your magic attack. Slash his magic spells to dispel them if they come near.

Good job as always Zun. :P

I'm not suprised that you've practically done the work for us with the walkthrough. Felt like you were going to do this eventually for awhile now. XD

There's also a secret in the Beta Level 1. At some part in the Cave area (I think it's near the moving blocks that you have to go underneath) you can use Delta Power to go through the walls and into gaps. It's a lot like the secret in Beta Level 2. There are occasionally signs that say something along the lines of "There isn't anything secret this way", but obviously this is untrue. Eventually you'll get to a yellow switch that creates a bunch of coins. It's a little hard to explain, but I can get pictures if necessary.

So I finally got around to updating this walkthrough. How many months has it been since the newest version was released? Three? Anyway, I tried to mix some humor and soul into the words, while still maintaining a serious outlook. Did it work well? Let me know what you guys think.

Could a mod sticky this? I know the game isn't complete yet, but maybe this would be helpful for some people.

By the way, if you slash the boss four times, regardless of his energy level his aura level will be filled. As you slash him four times in four different reloading moments, he will be defeated. The boss probably has 16 HPs.

By the way, the last wave is probably one of the hardest thing you confront since the platforms surrounding by swirling spikes. He'll unleash several waves with four spectres and an entire wall of turret blasts which will oblige you to hide inside the Delta Orbs holes.

I've updated the walkthrough for Null Space RC2. I decided to leave Chapter 1 RC2 there in case people still play that version. I'm currently working on adding the Hard Mode levels in too. Mostly what those will be is just comparisons to the old level, I don't really see the point in rewriting basically the same thing just with slight changes.

1 star: (0 - 5.75 in LDC) These levels need a lot of work. They're totally un-elaborated, and/or inherently flawed due to things like cutoff or enemy spam, or they're untested and there are too many bugs gameplay-wise, in short: Many many things went wrong in such a level.

2 stars: (6 - 9.75) These levels are not terrible, but poor. They're too short, lack scenery or they have errors and/or bugs but it's still barely enjoyable. Again, spend more effort and try to do better. (if it's your first level that I rate two stars, it's not bad. There's a long way you can still go)

3 stars: (10 - 12.75) These levels are about mediocre. They may be still a little bit short, the gameplay is fine but not very original and graphics are also solid, but not breath-taking. Try to keep improving!

4 stars: (13 - 15) These levels are nice, but not the best. Effort has been put into them, there can some professionality be seen in gameplay and graphics, they're a nice experience to play, but there are still things you can do to make it even better. Try to go the extra mile!

5 stars: (15.25 - 20) These are really great levels, those which, as said, I would give more than 15 in an LDC. These suffice many high requirements, and it already goes into subtleties if you want to make them better. These levels are successful all around. Bravo.

These are just general principles I try to follow when rating. Sometimes I don't leave a further comment when rating, most times I do, if you have questions about it, feel free to ask further.
