Because people like me actually enjoy what comes out of this thread. I find Forum Games to be rather...simple, for lack of a better word. Some of the things posted here (not including the things like "hurr durr I wrote a story") actually have some worth to them, like a real piece of literature might. It's incredibly difficult to pull off something meaningful in only six short words. If this should go anywhere else, it would be the Stories forum, but that section of the forums is unfortunately basically dead. This thread won't get any attention there. A few years ago it might have, when we had more forum members active all over the board.
Like Moy(?)'s 55(?)-word story thread in Stories. And in Forum Games, we've had things like "The Never-Ending Story" (and "The Never-Ending Story For Actual Talent"), but they tend to either get polluted with weird plot divergences and absurdity or simply just die due to the same problems caused when a single person tries to completely wing a writing without establishing anything beforehand. This is probably the next best thing to the latter thread I mentioned, even though we're not collaborating on a big group effort. I would love for something like that to come around again, but it's really difficult to continue off of someone else when we don't have any sort of template to flesh out. I think the object of this was to get something like that started again, but instead of long paragraphs of text, we have to craft thought-provoking sentences and inspire others while at the same time not forcing anyone to take way an extra 20 minutes from their oh-so-valuable leisure time to read through everything we've written to date.
I would love for some of you guys to genuinely take a shot at this. It could even be moved to Stories or whatever if we want to reduce the frequency of the less compelling posts (not naming any names here), but in Off-Topic it's probably more accessible to everyone, and has a greater chance for people to take it seriously than if it were somewhere like Forum Games.
