Lately, some users (namely Jhynjhiruu, Forgotten and Shad) have developed mods and hacks for Super Mario 63. These include SM63: Chaos Edition, respawning in custom levels without going back to the LD, as well as fully functional checkpoints, and might include more fun things in the near future. This topic details how you can have these mods running on your favourite version of SM63.
Currently, mods only work on downloaded versions of Super Mario 63, which you can find
here; they do not work on the Newgrounds version of the game because of the site's sandbox. The way mods are handled depends on the file extension you are using.
- You are running the .exe file of the full game of Super Mario 63: The mods work great on this version.
- You are running a .swf file of Super Mario 63 (either the full game or the LD-only version): Mods will not run by default on these versions. To be able to load mods on these versions, follow these steps:
- Open SM63 using a Flash Player projector (Adobe’s official one can be downloaded from their debug downloads page).
- Right click anywhere in the window, then go to Global Settings.
- Go to Advanced.
- Click on Trusted Locations Settings.
- Click Add.
- Type in the path to the directory your .swf file of Super Mario 63 is in (For example C:/Users/[your_name]/Documents/). You can also just type C:\ to include all of your computer.
- Click Add Folder.
- Restart SM63.
You should now be able to load mods on the LD-only version, as well as any other .swf file of the game.
If you prefer to work online from your browser, you can use the
full final version of Super Mario 63 hosted on Sheezyart.
