Posting Your ArtCommenting on Others' Art
  1. USE EFFORT! You should always put your best effort into your work. Otherwise, there's not really very much point in posting it.
  2. ORIGINAL CONTENT ONLY. Don't steal or plagiarize. If you really feel the need to post someone else's work for some reason, give credit to the creator.
  3. ALL ART IS WELCOME. It doesn't matter what type of media your art uses, even if it can be disputed as to whether what you're posting is really art or not. It's all subjective anyway, and there's no reason to put restrictions on creativity.
  4. On threads: You can have as many threads for your work as you want (though it's preferred if you keep it to a minimum), as long as they're not redundant. You can also bump your own thread and double-post in it as much as you want in the art forums, since it's your content and you're welcome to update it as frequently as you deem necessary. It's also perfectly acceptable to simply abandon an old art thread of yours if you want to start anew with a fresh thread.
  5. On NSFW content: Artwork that involves gore, nudity, violence, or other generally "not safe for work" (NSFW) content is by all means allowed, but expect to be given a warning if you do not clearly mark the content as such. If your thread as a whole is usually clean, then make sure you use [spoiler] BBCode and mark it as nsfw. Otherwise, if you plan to post a thread containing mostly or exclusively nsfw content of any form (text, graphics, audio, video, etc), just add an nsfw or trigger warning tag in the title so we know before opening it; in that case, you don't need to collapse the content into a spoiler because we already know what it is.
    • As a general rule of thumb, if you wouldn't want it seen on your screen at school/work, or if you're unsure, just put it in a spoiler.
tl;dr: Be an artist, and be yourself.
  1. BE HELPFUL. Constructive criticism is strongly encouraged. Praise/compliments are fine, suggestions for improvement are great. Insults and personal attacks are not.
    • Single-word or very brief posts like "good job" or "11/10" or "meh" or "blew my mind" or "I like it" aren't helpful or useful and will be considered postcounting. Remember, the artist probably put a lot of effort into their work (at least, if they're following the rules, they did). Try to contribute feedback of a quality equivalent to that of the artwork itself, whether it's praise, critique, or general commentary. For example, tell them about something you really liked, or suggest how you might improve something.
  2. On spoofs: Spoofs of others' work are generally okay if they're good-natured and not derisive. Bluntly, just don't be a ♥♥♥♥ about it, and make sure the original artist/author is okay with it, and you'll probably be received positively.
  3. On requests: Creators will usually say whether they're currently taking requests or not somewhere in their thread (or in the title/subtitle). If they don't have it listed, just ask in the thread, via PM, or on the site chat.
  4. On posting in general: Bumping is fine if you're commenting on someone's work. However, bumping just for the sake of "pls post more art" or "when are you going to finish my piece" is not necessary and would be handled better via PM.
    • Double-posting is generally discouraged if you're just posting general comments within a short time span, since you can just use the big shiny EDIT button in the top-right corner of your post instead.
    • If you feel what you have to say is relevant/significant and a simple edit just won't suffice (i.e. it's been a couple of weeks/months since the last post [aka it's basically a bump]), then go ahead and double-post. It's not a big deal.
tl;dr: Try to be a constructive, sincere, and insightful commentator.

Is it just that whenever you make new rules, you always say my stuff are bad.
I work hard on this stuff, and you just all diss it around as if it's cr*p.
It's not that nice really.
But good rules.
I'm getting tired of seeing those recolour topics.

Hey, when your Runouw.com game becomes famous and you bring a thousand new members here, then you'll have the last laugh.
