ABOUT THE RUNOLYMPICS
The Runloympics is a concept that was created by Kimonio back in 2010. However, this first edition was never completed. A second edition of the Runolympics was attempted by Star king in 2011, which was actually not inspired by Kim's first attempt but by an unreleased forum story Star was planning. However, participation dropped during the first event and it was rapidly abandoned.
This 2015 edition of the Runolympics is therefore the third attempt at this idea, and the first made official. The concept hasn't changed much since 2010: Five teams compete in a series of Runouw-related or Gaming-related events in order to win. The hosts this year will be and .
Unlike the real Olympics, winning an event from the Runolympics grant points instead of medals. Points will be awarded at the end of each event in the following pattern:
1st place: 12 points
2nd place: 9 points
3rd place: 6 points
4th place: 3 points
5th place: 0 points This means that the winner of the Runolympics is NOT the team with the most wins, but the team with the most cumulative points at the end of the games.
In this 2015 edition, there will be 7 events. A full list can be found

HOW EVENTS WILL WORK
It is possible to separate the events in 3 categories: Team events, individual events and open competitions.
Here is how each will work:
- Team Event [Example: Gaming Caption Contest]: In such an event, the team participates as a whole, meaning every member of the team is able to give their input and participate at the same time. A definitive answer might be necessary in the end, but it can be team effort.
- Individual Event: [Example: Gaming Tournament]: In this kind of event, each of the four teams will have to select a set number of team members to serve as "representatives". These representatives will be the ONLY ones to participate in the event, meaning that the entire team will depend on them in order to receive points.
- Open Competition: [Example: Art and Level Designing Contests]: This event is similar to the individual event, in that each team will FIRST have to choose one representative for their team BEFORE the event. These five representatives (one for each team) WILL have to enter the event. However, this event differs in the fact that more than these 5 can participate in the contest, even people that didn't sign up for the Runolympics at all (if they wish). Everyone will be judged equally, however ONLY THE FIVE REPRESENTATIVES will count towards their team's performance, EVEN IF someone from the same team scores higher.
RULES
- General forum rules OBVIOUSLY STILL APPLY in this subforum.
- Any major attempt at CHEATING will result in your disqualification in the event you are participating in AND a point penalty for your team.
- You are completely free to contest a decision from the judges/hosts as long as it's thoughtful and not abusive. Any unnecessary and repetitive scandal-making or whining may result in warnings.
- It is strongly advised you warn your team and the hosts (Star and I) of any planned departure from the site.
REWARDS
Since this event is official, this means that there are some awards to grab!
It is important to note that the Runolympics rely on this series of events, and which team is the best one at ALL OF THEM. This means that, unlike the real Olympics, no medal will be awarded for winning an individual event. However, normal medals might be awarded in the open competitions (Art Contest, SM63 Contest, LL Contest) if enough people enter them (generally, if at least 8 people join any given event).

QUESTIONS
Q: For open competitions (LDCs and AC), do the team representatives have to work all on their own?A: The representatives can ask the team for advice or ideas, or for beta-testing, however they will have to make the level/the artwork on their own.Q: What happens if I skip a Runolympics event?A: Absolutely nothing! In an individual event or an open competition, the team might not choose you to represent them and that's okay. In a team event, you might want to skip this one if you don't feel you are good at it. There will be no penalty, no consequence whatsoever, unless you skip every single event.Q: Is there a minimum/maximum of events I can participate in?A: No, you can decide to carry the team on your back or sit out of every single event if you want, as long as it's fine with your team. However, in the latter case, this inactivity might get you disqualified if you also aren't active in the team subforum.Q: What happens if two teams or more tie in an event?A: There will be some sort of Lightning Round that will last one additional day to serve as a tie breaker if needed. We added one-day breaks between events to counter such problems. Feel free to ask any question about the Runolympics in this topic. IT WILL BE THE FIRST PLACE WE CHECK EVERY TIME WE LOG IN, so you should get an answer quite fast. You can also check the chat and ask the question if we are online. It will be then posted here for convenience.
